You're kind of fulfilling my point which is that you can spin what
should and
shouldn't happen based on perceived expectations as it fits your point. For example:
Gaga and Beyoncé had been slaying since 2008 without a significant break. They collaborated at the end of 2009. The year was 2010. The GP simply was over saturated in Gaga and Beyoncé material.
Rihanna hadn't released an album since 2007 and since her incident. The year is 2010 and none of Rihanna's songs resonated. The GP was not satisfying with her previous singles so finally when she gives them what they want, they take it.
