Thanks! most artists have 1 or even 2 years to prep an album. He's been on tour since he won Idol and I really hate when people want the Idols to have a groundbreaking debut albums when they don't have any time to put them together, that's why the record label pick some songs beforehand to be their singles, as it happened with Cook, his two singles off his debut album aren't his, he wrote and co-wrote the whole album except for this 2 songs, so the label already had picked them, but it's a great accomplishment to write some songs in such a little time.
Also you always ask for the creative Idols (aka. Daughtry, Cook, Allen, etc) to write their own songs, when people like Britney, Beyonce, etc had never wrote a song and nobody cares. Or even Carrie, Jennifer Hdson, Archie, Kelly Clarkson on their debuts had little involvement in writing.
Conclusion, it's ok to take a potential hit song and record it for your album, at the end what matters it's the longevity in the business and the records to come are going to become more and more his music, his writing and he's gifted as we saw on Idol.
Go Kris... and Cook.... LOL
It's not about how they start, it's about longevity in the business. Those two have no star potential. Kris will get multiple top 10 hits from this album and Adam will have top 10 hits all over the world. 
The anticipation will build for their second albums, while no one cares about the Davids follow up releases.
Jordin has too, which helps her flop like a bitch with the 2nd album
