"Far Side of the Moon" was one of the standouts when I listened to Aquarius last week. Gah, I need to listen to that album again!

Love 7/11, was bopping to it all night last night.

"The Crying Game" is one of Nicki's best songs ever. Simply a genius move to recruit Jessie as a hook girl. Hope it gets released as a single so it can go on my 2015 list.

Hozier is either the most ridiculous serious musician or the most serious ridiculous musician with his song titles and music. I can't tell. Glad you liked the song though. I think you'd like Miguel's EP, it's only 10 minutes.

That song title is the worst to type out. Neneh is pretty good. The album had a couple Four Tet productions. It was pretty cool.

7/11 is a highly boppable track.

Aquarius is great. It's still in heavy rotation.

I agree. knew Jessie cut her teeth on dance tracks with SBTRKT and etc., but who knew she would kind of be the master of the rap hook?

Favorite 2014 Songs (77 - 73)

77. Never Catch Me (feat. Kendrick Lamar) - Flying Lotus - You're Dead!






Kendrick and Flying Lotus make a great team. But then again either pairs well with just about anyone so I don't really know what to say other than this is one of the most ambitious singles of the year. It's a breath-taking moment on the album, great enough to help it stand-out and make this song list, but it just doesn't pop enough as an individual song for it to be much higher.





76. A Place Like This - Majid Jordan - A Place Like This -EP






I got to thank Drake for bringing my attention to these guys. Had he not recruited them for Hold On We're Going Home, I wouldn't have had them on my radar. Unfortunately, it seems that not many did. It's a shame, A Place Like this is one of the best R&B singles of the year. Luxuriously smooth and vaguely dreamy, it's easy to get lost into.




75. Shades Of Cool - Lana Del Rey - Ultraviolence






Lana's first appearance! Shades Of Cools is an excellent stand alone song. The melody is nice and pure until the track melts into a psychedelic break-down on the bridge. It's vaguely dark but still colorful somehow. I guess it's just Lana being Lana




74. Ecstasy (feat. Hurts) - Calvin Harris - Motion






When you hear Ecstasy and Calvin Harris what comes to mind? If it's a smoldering ballad on his Motion album, you'd have guessed my 74th favorite song of the year. It's a curve ball in Calvin's discography of stadium filling anthems. By far the highlight on Motion, it's the most passionate, substantial, and moving song.




73. Therapy - Mary J. Blige - The London Sessions






By far the best single Sam Smith was involved with that was released this year. It's adventurous in sound, perfectly lends Sam Smithian mope-soul, gospel, Mary J. Blige, and whatever is in London's tapwater that causes its current music scene to be so forward thinking.

Shades of Cool is my fave of the set but Therapy (btw, you may want to correct the tiel. You left Good Kisser there) and Ecstasy are great as well
