"Beyoncé" is stellar, standing tall amongst the albums it leapfrogged to land at No. 1 here—accessible enough to appeal to pop ears ("XO"), bizarre and transformative enough with winds and ghostly warbles ("Haunted," "Mine") to qualify as a gorgeous art project. None of the other albums on the list cover as many bases as she does here at as high a performance quality.
Because those critics who got into the hype are too embarrassed to admit it is actualy a bad album. I don't blame them tho. I've said some huge lies while excited too.
Why risk a warning point for such a basic and unfunny comment?
Let's be real, while the surprise release was groundbreaking and something the industry really benefited from, the music was nothing new. And I also think Beyonce started the feminism trend so I'm not being harsh.
I don't doubt she outsold UA I know that much I just thought it was weird that on all these blogs sites when reading the comments you see some mentioning 5mill and im thinking why are they inflating like her numbers were bad...it's the same issue I had with the Navy claiming UA sold 4.1 mill when it's shown she sold 3.4 or something around that figure which isn't bad either...but other then that I think all the praise of this album is justified and she delivered a great body of work.
I agree, the praise is justified. I'll take it you'll be storming the Grammy offices with the Hive if she doesn't win AOTY?
I don't understand why people are saying the the music wasn't praised when there are quotes from articles published less than a week ago in the OP praising the exact thing they are claiming wasn't a factor in the praise. Either the trolls are running out of ideas, or they can't read.
The Bey haters of Atrl said it was all hype and front loaded, but hyped albums don't get critical acclaim and AOTY Grammy nods, nor do they sell close to 5 million ww.
The album and it's music are not praised, stop being delusional. However, the surprise release marketing will be praised for a long time, it was a boss move by her management.
Then how can you explain the three articles in the OP praising the music a year after the surprise release? Or maybe you didn't read the OP and skipped straight to being pressed and irrational because you can't accept that no matter how many times you try and refute the fact that Beyoncé will always be more acclaimed and respected than your fave, it's never going to happen.
By the way, here is quote from another article posted this week.
Quote:
Released with no advance warning, alongside a huge clutch of videos, in mid-December of last year — which, yes, places an asterisk next to the whole "Top 10 Albums Of 2014" designation — Beyoncé's lavishly ambitious album required the entire year to be fully unpacked. It's got a perfect life-and-death pop anthem ("XO"), quotable treatises on beauty ("***Flawless," "Pretty Hurts"), sweetly raunchy come-ons ("Blow"), obligatory guest spots by Jay-Z ("Drunk In Love") and Blue Ivy ("Blue"), priceless Ed McMahon samples, a monologue defining feminism itself and much more. Beyoncé launched a thousand think pieces, and with damn good reason, but it's also one of the best pop records in years, straight-up.
Unless I'm illiterate, most of the praise seems to be about the MUSIC, not those other superficial things the haters are claiming she was praised for.
