I listened to alvvays once but it didn't stick for me. Mø's album grew on me a lot in the course of the past few months. Oh and I really like The Big Pink!
I love how your "bitch ass roommate" is like a character. Your list is starting to seem like a story kinda.
I feel like you would.
Female vocalist, kinda this surf pop feel, like I said they remind me a lot of Best Coast.
The big catchy single is "Archie, Marry Me," although pretty much all the songs are catchy lol.
It's gawn be one more since I remembered another after doing some quick iistens and filling out to a round #.
It's ok cuz this is what always happens!
51. SBTRKT Wonder Where We Land
Our masked hero is here out done with the making of festival-ready rave hits, but in their place come some pretty swanky explorations into worlds of sound that we never even approached the first time around. Not everyone dug this one — of course it's also not as good as the first album, but you win some you lose some. Interesting to me too how in the absence of more concrete song structures, Sampha's contributions still shine though.
Hands down best cover art of the year, IMO.

Okay, i guess i'll just stick with the Dominicans since the Africans don't want me.
Maybe one of the more overrated releases of the year (to me), but still enjoyable and an easy listen. This is electronic/dance music but with a personal touch inspired by changes in dude's life, and the combination is brought about by mostly vocal samples that float between the foreground and background of the instrumentals. It's repetitive in a way but the tracks also all evolve and change over their runtimes, and there's a lot of variation in between the different songs.
Pretty deep/layered-sounding.

You beefed with Moby, Mariah Carey, and Christina Aguilera... And then this ***** calls himself the diss god? LOL
I don't know anything about 100s beyond the 8 songs on this release, but maybe I should get on that seeing as no one else in the game before or after has thought to do what he does here: straight up West Coast pimp rap absolutely drenched in sugary pop melodies. He's a charismatic + funny MC and there's a lot of strong storytelling on display here, but the real showstopping moment comes 7 tracks on in "Middle of the Night" where he drops rapping altogether. Who says a pimp can't have a soft side.

I'm about to go put some rum in my punch and start preparing my bars in case eminem comes for my head. LOL Enjoy YA night!!!
I like the classic rock pacing and vibe on this album and the fact that all the while it still retains this cool poppy sheen. JLew is a music industry veteran and here we see all her years of life experience come together in the form of a very honest set of lyrics. Half of me feels like there's one melody that just keeps coming back through these songs in a slightly different form, but hey at least it's a strong one. Listen to "Late Bloomer" for an example of great emotional storytelling.
42. Gangsta Boo & Beatking Underground Cassette Tape Music
So if you didn't know, Gangsta Boo is a core member of the legendary Oscar-winning rap group Three 6 Mafia; she and her boys played a big role in putting Memphis on the map as a center for hip hop music, and she's DEFINITELY one of the best/most influential female rappers of all time. So rounding out the female rap album trinity of 2014 (sorry Nicki!) is her free album-length collaboration with the producer Beatking. It's like a Juicy J-esque 45 minute journey through what's going on in each one's state of mind at the moment (spoiler = $$$), except maybe instead of in the strip club this one takes place in a scrapyard somewhere. Beatking is not that good of a rapper, but luckily GB holds her own enough to keep things compelling. Sounding very professionally put together which is impressive seeing as the whole thing was probably thrown together on a $3 budget. Watch the R#1h sample below
Fun fact: one of three album collaborations in the top fift'!
Fun fact 2: also not the best thing Gangsta Boo did this year! (we'll get to that)
Good stuff. Archie, Marry Me was one of my favorite tracks this year and the album was also great. Only checked out The Voyager recently, but I really liked what I'd heard!
Another electronic album in 2014 that some other people seemed to enjoy more than I did, but no denying in this case how much like pure human joy there was packed into the 12 tracks of Mr. Facial Hair's first full-length...(instrumental) album!. He manages to achieve a cohesive feel despite moving between varying different styles of dance music across his songs, it's almost like the audio feed to a comic book strip or something. The centerpiece here though is the Bryan Ferry-led "Johnny and Mary," all dusky and slowed-down like. Woah, is that a tear in Kang's eye? Couldn't be.

I finally finished watching the kim and Ray-j sex tape. I think kim was faking it...
Wonder Where We Land, Also those 3 songs you shared w/it are like the BEST 3 songs, love them.
Didn't really like Moo or Pharrell's album's much, but The Pinkprint
