Well of course it's not real.
I mean, The Hypocrisy of bangups whole post. His sig criticises me for apparently alluding to insider info.
All of a sudden he has knowledge of an email sent to billboard editor who he can't name of provide a source. 
He either made it up or read it on Angela chengs site.
The average ticket price takes into account secondary sellers.
Getmein.com etc etc are sister companies of ticketmaster - That's how the data is compiled.
I read Bangup's comment and SCREAMED.

In what way does selling less, and selling less on average, yet making more overall make sense?

Beyonce, JT, and Katy all have incredibly huge draws. They're extremely popular, global artists. So is Britney, and she's doing pretty well considering she's in Vegas and not coming off of a well-received album. As for the minuta, no one really gives two cents except for the corporate sponsors, Billboard, and apparently people here who have nothing else left to cling onto.
This isn't money in your personal bank accounts. If you chopped all of these grosses in half, you'd still be hard pressed in arguing that any of them are irrelevant. Everyone mentioned went on to perform sold out tours around the world. If you want to brag on that, and if you think it makes you feel that your favorite artist is more "relevant" in today's pop world, cool, but realize that it would've made Dave Matthews Band seem really relevant, too, up until like 2005.

There's clearly something wrong with Katy's numbers but there are things wrong with all touring numbers. The fact that any of these stars claim "Sold Out" when they give out hundreds of tickets each tour should be telling enough.
