So Rih is popular in over 148 countries and yet she can barely sell over 5m these days?

Not when Rihanna has only 2 albums (GGGB and Loud) that were able to sell 5M+. Meanwhile Bey has achieved that feat on several occasions(6 times)in her music career.

In the past 4 years, the only pop songs Beyonce released were Best Thing I Never Had and XO. Pretty Hurts only got released to urban radio.
Now let's take a look at 2008/2009 when Beyoncé still kissed pop radio's ass, had songs like If I Were A Boy, Halo, Single Ladies, Sweet Dreams. Did promo all over the world like the artists in the OP. How much did IASF sell again? Wasn't it around 7 million? Exactly.
|
Run the world, Love on top, Party, XO, Pretty hurts, Countdown etc.. all these songs are pop. Stop making excuses.
4 Had more promo and plenty of exposure compared to IASF aswell...

not really more success musically translates to the amount of records sold and not the amount of money earned if it wa the latter, Dr Dre would probably be the biggest artist of all time, and Rihanna has sold more records so.....

And well so what? Bey was able to get a #2 peaking hit this era and didn't manage to sell over 5M like her

Well newsflash, the US is part of the world . It's the biggest and most important market. You can't claim global domination with low album sales in the US.
Scanning multi-platinum domestically and internationally>>>>>>>>>>>> needing album sales from other countries to make up the loss in the US.
|
1.8 million is low album sales? Wasn't ST the only Bey album that was able to do better than that? And WW does include the US which is a part of the globe hence why your point doesn't make sense ![rip](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRLSmilies/rip_zpsec10ede9.gif)

She was able to do it more recently than Bey though and she's a titan I heard, while Rih is the quick lil' singles artist hence my question

Dead @ recently. Loud was 5yrs ago, and she barely did it in a healthier music market. Even with all the payola hits and heavy promo she still couldn't even scan a multi-platinum in the US. Why do navy always try to airbrush music history? ![laugh](images/smilies/images/smilies/laugh.gif)

Well Rihanna hasn't sold over 4 million since LOUD and that was in 2010. Maybe it's because both Rihanna and Beyoncé also make urban/R&B music as well as pop and therefore their albums won't appeal to as many people as say... P!nk's last album or Katy Perry's Teenage Dream.
Although.... It looks like Prism is having a hard time outselling BEYONCÉ, even though the former was tailor made for pop radio and BEYONCÉ is the opposite. BEYONCÉ has sold about the same amount as Unapologetic.
Honestly, the only ones doing it are Taylor and P!nk. Not sure how long they'll be able to get their young fans to buy their albums though.
More importantly. Who cares.

I said it for comparison reasons ![laugh](images/smilies/images/smilies/laugh.gif)
And LOUD was released in End of year 2010, last time I checked that wasn't 5 years ago, and what payola hits are you talking about?

There is a world outside of the U.S you know. Loud smashed just about everywhere else which is more impressive than smashing is just one market, even if it is the biggest one and especially when you're selling way more in all those markets combined than certain people do in that one certain market.

I like Bey and have bought all her albums. But something about the ATRL Hive makes me want to not like her. ![Sistrens](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRL_Smilies_All/random/mskt8j_zpsfb323382.gif)

So?Titan has a lot of 5m albums,if not more than Rih,timing is irrelevant, you haven't answered my question,,so Rih is popular in over 148 countries and yet she can barely sell 5m?

And what's more worldwide does include U.S sales so it's not like the U.S is being left out as opposed to only including U.S sales and ignoring sales from everywhere else

she already has, as I pointed out and I meant sales from 148 countries should be more important than sales from just one country ![:)](http://www.atrl.net/forums/images/smilies/images/smilies/smile.gif)

It's as simple as that ..
You can afford about the same lifestyle whether you have $100 million or half a billion. It's just about what you choose to do with it, and for that matter you can be sure Rihanna knows how to enjoy life much more than Beyonce.
But, you don't hold - by scoring a global hit every couple of months - the same musical relevance/impact you get with being almost absent on radios worldwide.

Gurl what?!? It's not Beyoncé's fault she has a better record contract , and is far more involved in her music career. Whether you want accept it or not, Beyoncé is far wealthier and can afford to call the shots and invest in topnotch quality for her music. So of coz money matters in that aspect. I'm sure Bey finds joy and fulfillment in having a good time with her family, than posting desperate pics (naked, drinking and smoking) for attention.
As for scoring hits, what good are those hit songs if you can't sell albums?
