I think Calvin just waits for his songs to peak before releasing them to US radio. I mean, he waited until the actual season of summer was over before releasing Blame. He waited until after the album release for a new single release. Outside should go Top 40. But it won't chart as well as Summer or Blame because of Love Me Like You Do.
But I'm just fine with a Top 40 position. Outside is a good song, but it's not amazing or anything. I Need Your Love remains the superior Calvin/Ellie collab. But Outside still deserves a Top 40 placement because it is a good single choice
I'd even say this is better than I Need Your Love, which while still very good, is kind of overstuffed and loud.
