I still remember the way she described PNP to be this awesome, "urgent" track but it wasn't at all, at please for me. I also feel like TPP is not shaping up to be this classic, timeless, cohesive, important to Hip-Hop for years to come kind of record based on the singles we've heard so far. It's not just Nicki though. I find that when artists hype their music, it never lives up to people's expectations. It's just better to release the music and let the music speak for itself.
One thing that I don't understand is what she means when she says "it's corny when rappers feel like they have nothing to prove..." Isn't she, herself, guilty of this?

Didn't she do an interview with Vibe in 2012 and where she basically said that she didn't need to/have to prove herself to anyone anymore? Wasn't the problem with the RR album as a result of her feeling too safe (like she proved herself with PF)?
Here is the exact quote of the Vibe 2012 interview that I'm talking about
:
Quote:
“I felt like I had something to prove to everyone who said a female rapper could not make an album unless she was talking about her p***y," Minaj said. “And so I went above and beyond to prove that I could not talk about sex and not talk about my genitalia and still have a successful album. And I proved that. And now my time for proving things to my critics is over. I don’t really need to prove anything to anyone else anymore.”

Someone with more insight explain this to me, please. Anyways, let's do a prayer circle that it all comes together in the end.
