I will say that being a hip-hop album, HYFR and We'll Be Fine serve a purpose for being the necessary bangers. Make Me Proud is good but just a little patronizing.
I love that you listened to Rustie also, I love that album. It's a headrush of a record! I'm not going to lie, I bought it a year or two ago because I like the cover, but it's amazing. He just released a follow-up yesterday, that I really want to get.
Also, to anyone reading, I'm trying to rep Drake in this game. You know he's one of the most acclaimed musicians working today. On Pitchfork's mid-decade list, he ranked #41 for Nothing Was the Same, and #12 for Take Care. Please support one of the most boundary pushing and influential musicians.
All you have to do is post this ![](http://i.minus.com/jbx1gb8vCA3Riz.jpg) picture in the thread. The link is in the word game in the paragraph above. That's all you have to do. Thanks!

Yeah, I just re-listened to the album a few hours ago in full and it is definitely one of the weaker tracks, but I still find it alright. I think Drake has a lot of potential, but in order to really delve into his artistry he should shy away from more mainstream songs (similar to Kanye ![eli's_rhythm](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRL_Smilies_All/atrlers/eli_zps0932edf9.gif) ). Lol yeah, that Glass Swords was definitely one of the most insane electronic records I have heard, I will listen to a few of his other songs.

Do you like any of the other albums by them? I wasn't crazy about Modern Vampires when I first heard it, and I loved their other two

Hey I've had this on my wishlist for awhile. I forget where I came across it. It may have been that I really just lied the cover haha What's it sound like?
I think I remember the comparison being Daft Punk... But that doesn't seem right.

Thanks for voting for me! I tried to thank you on your wall, but it turned white and my computer started glitching.
I kind of think that Drake does have it in him to make a really forward thinking album, but I honestly think he really likes the attention ![laugh](images/smilies/images/smilies/laugh.gif) he actually does have some great Soundcloud releases lie 5 AM in Toronto and Girls Love Beyonce that are pretty great.

I don't see the Daft Punk comparison at all. ![laugh](images/smilies/images/smilies/laugh.gif) If anything some tracks are Boards Of Canada-esque. Pretty much just instrumental analog jams with modular synths and tribal drums.
It's really, really good and must be listened all the way through to really get the full picture imo. A+ album!

No problem. Haha.
Yeah, I think he wants to remain in the limelight and release music that is a good balance between experimental and mainstream, which is fine for now I guess. Sometime later in his career he should just go all out though.

Pitchfork's Top 100 Albums of 2010s (Albums I Have Listened To In Full So Far):
#1, #2, #3, #6, #8, #9, #10, #12, #14, #15, #19, #21, #22, #36, #39, #41, #43, #44, #46, #48, #52, #55, #56, #65, #67, #76, #87, #89, #97
My thoughts on Beyonce's 'BEYONCE':
Yeah, so I never listened to this album when all the hype was around it earlier this year. I do not really know why, I just never got around to it really. So I am glad, I got to finally go through it after making myself go through this list published by Pitchfork because it is easily one of the best "pop girl" albums I have heard in the last few years. It might even be the best "pop girl" album since The Fame Monster. Most of the tracks were just a joy to listen to, with the standouts being "Pretty Hurts", "Haunted", "Drunk in Love", "Partition", "Mine", "XO", and "Heaven". My favorite tracks are "Pretty Hurts" and "Drunk in Love" definitely. This album is really strong also because it features a collection of various different types of tracks such as power ballads and hip-hop influenced songs, essentially it is a really eclectic album and that is what makes it more powerful. 'BEYONCE' gets me really excited, because she really is the only popstar right now who is going in the RIGHT direction musically. I cannot wait to see where she goes from here.

My thoughts on Bat for Lashes' 'The Haunted Man':
So here is another artist I had never listened to prior to going through this list. I had heard of Bat for Lashes prior to now, but never listened to any of her work for whatever reason. In any case, after listening to her beautiful vocals, she is definitely one of the artists I will start looking out for. 'The Haunted Man' was not the perfect album, and it definitely had its weak points, but there are some real keepers on this album that make it worth listening to. "Laura", "Lilies", "All Your Gold", "Oh Yeah", "Winter Fields", "The Haunted Man", and "Rest Your Head" were the standout tracks in my opinion, with "Laura" definitely being the strongest track on the album. This ballad is simply gorgeous, and her vocals are superb. I will definitely put her previous work on my list of albums to listen to after I finish this top 100 after listening to 'The Haunted Man', and I am excited to see how she evolves as an artist in the future as well.

My thoughts on HAIM's 'Days Are Gone':
Firstly, I would like to comment that "The Wire" is the best pop song of 2013. ****ing perfection. Ok, now that the truth has been stated let's briefly discuss the rest of the album. 'Days Are Gone' is an exceptional music release with a hell of a lot of energy, style, and class. I mean their style is just amazing, and works on all of the songs very well. The standouts for me were "Falling", "Forever", "The Wire", "Honey & I", "Don't Save Me", "Days Are Gone", "My Song 5", and "Let Me Go", with "The Wire" clearly being the best track. The melody is beyond infectious, and I am already addicted. I could see this becoming my most played track out of every album I have and will listen to on this list. Songs like that should be the ones dominating top 40 radio in the US, not the generic soulless music that currently does. So excited to see what comes next from this incredibly promising group!

That sounds pretty great! I'm not sure where the Daft Punk comparison came from haha, I probably mis-remembered something I read about the album. I'll check it out soon. Probably after I listen to Rustie's newest.

I have some serious issues with this album.
It's great in parts but incredibly disappointing in others. Some of it is pure art, like Mine (my favorite song and video), Ghost/Haunted, the Pretty Hurts Video, No Angel, XO, Blue, the Grown Woman Video, and Heaven and show Bey fully developing into one of the best pop artists today who uses her wealth, status, and recognition to push the boundaries of what pop can be and do. I understand that she has the ambition and talent to be an all-time great and I like the ambition on the record.
At the same time I absolutely hate that she did not go all out ambitious on the record. She totally plays it safe on Drunk In Love, Flawless (my least favorite track on the album), Blow, and even Partition. She completely ruins everything she attempted to do on this record (being seen as a serious artist, not caring about the charts, etc.) by yelling out memes like "I woke up like dis!," "Surfboardt!," that awful feminist TED talk that replaced I Been On, " My rawk...FLAWLESS" "He Monica Lewinskied all over my gown," "grinding, grinding on that wood." These songs derail the album almost completely for me and the parts I referenced come across as cheap hooks. I'm not really attacking the songs for being poppy, I just hate that on her "serious- artistic statement" album she has some of her most basic and blatant attempts at hooks, that are under her and undo all the subtleties she was aiming for on the album.

I can agree that there are definitely mixed messages lyrically on this album, most prevalently on the songs you mentioned, musically however the album is simply top notch. I absolutely adore "Drunk in Love" though (Jay-Z is the worst part of the song), its intentions are to be an over the top outlandish and anthemic pop song, with hip hop influences. I think it is intentionally ridiculous and a bit... unhinged even from the typical Beyoncé song, which is what makes it so much better in my opinion.

I agree, musically, the album is on point throughout (I'm not the biggest fan of Superpower though), I just have a hard time getting over the parts that I listed in my other post. They kind of take me out of the mindset of the album if that makes sense.
I have the biggest problem with ***Flawless. Did you ever hear Bow Down/I Been On? I think that track was brilliant. I loved the boasting and Bey celebrating her achievements as a woman with her own identity. Her command for others to Bow Down was a challenge on that track and it had lyrics "I been on, tell me who gone take me off" which I loved it because it was boastful and celebratory but also implied that women could compete against each other and that Bey was taking challengers to her throne. It was really complex and definitely worked as a whole.
I'm really disappointed with ***Flawless. After she got criticism for that song, she backed down (in my eyes) and changed the track to ***Flawless. She put the TED talk about feminism in to explicitly spell out what she wanted the track to say and I think it came across as really heavy-handed and took out a lot of the original's subtleties and put in the awful "I woke up like dis," part of the track. Instead of a track about complex power dynamics, the track becomes an unfocused attempt at a viral meme with some NPR thrown in. There are little things like this throughout the album that just kind of bug me that seem too calculated to really be great (Flawless is just the biggest deal-breaker for me)
Anyway though, those are my thoughts on the self-titled album. Overall it's very good with moments of brilliance and artistry that no one else could pull off, but is just too calculated to really all come together. For what it's worth, I think that you could switch this album and 4 on Pitchfork's list and have a more accurate mid-decade list.

Yeah, I can definitely see what you are saying. "Flawless" is one of the weaker tracks, if not the weakest, after analyzing the album further. It really is a song that struggles to find its purpose on the record. I haven't heard "I Been On/Bow Down", but I will definitely give them a spin now.

The was one of the first albums on this list, that I really did not enjoy. Sure there are a few decent tracks, but most of it just sounds so... blah. This album really struggles having any personality, and his vocals really do not inspire or even make the music enjoyable to listen to. This album sounds incredibly calculated also. The few standouts for me were "See You Fall", "Poor Cyril", "A Power", and "House Inside", not that any of these tracks were particularly brilliant. However, these tracks actually felt like they had some life to them, and gave me some energy, whereas most of the album you just feel so uninspired and frankly... bored. How To Dress Well, really just fails on this album because he struggles to inspire the listener, and if your music is unable to get any emotional reaction out of the listener, then what is its purpose?

But I Never Learnt To Share is the best track on James Blake by far.
I think Overgrown is a much stronger album.
As for Beyonce, it's a solid album even if it's a little overrated on here.

My thoughts on 'The Suburbs' by Arcade Fire:
Prior to listening to this album in full, the only Arcade Fire songs I had heard were "Ready to Start", "Sprawl II", and "Afterlife", which made listening to this album in full an incredibly enjoyable experience. In short, I am in love with this album, and I am definitely going to listen to their previous releases and 'Reflektor' in full now.Their sound is really unique and rather addicting, in comparison to many independent rock bands who struggle to invigorate the listener in any similar way. The standouts on the album are immense and simply too long to list, just know that nearly every track was great. My three favorite songs that I would deem as "must listen" tracks are "Ready to Start", "Half Light II", and "Sprawl II" as they all have completely different sounds, yet still manage to fit cohesively on this record. Arcade Fire are simply masters and creating music that is lyrically and musically experimental and inventive in a lot of way, while still retaining appeal to the masses, and that is what makes 'The Suburbs' such an accessible, and ultimately brilliant record.

I find his debut a lot stronger and much more enjoyable to listen to. For some reason, I really could not get into "I Never Learnt to Share", even now, I do not really play it at all. ![rip](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRLSmilies/rip_zpsec10ede9.gif)

Yes! I love The Suburbs! I love how they won album of the year in 2011 in the most random mix of albums ever (Eminem, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Lady Antebellum were also nominated).
I saw you got the three best tracks there but I also really love Wasted Hours and the title track. I need to relisten to this, it's been too long. I agree about it being accessible, I think they really captured the feeling of the suburbs both good and bad and that makes the record relateable. I also think you hit the nail on the head when you said that it's inventive also, it really opened up the subject matter for what a band could cover and how they could cover it (I think it's cool that the record sprawls through a bunch of very different styles, like suburbs themselves).
I love the ambition here and this is my second favorite Arcade Fire Album (Neon Bible is my favorite and Funeral my third), they kind of lost me at Reflektor.
Also, I need to get back to listening to these albums, I've been trying to get through my music listening list. I haven't even listened to anything remotely critically acclaimed in the past couple days ![JonnyϟLightning](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRL_Smilies_All/atrlers/jonny_zpsc73391c5.png)

Pitchfork's Top 100 Albums of 2010s (Albums I Have Listened To In Full So Far):
#1, #2, #3, #6, #8, #9, #10, #12, #14, #15, #19, #21, #22, #33, #36, #39, #41, #43, #44, #46, #48, #52, #55, #56, #64, #65, #67, #76, #87, #88, #89, #92, #94, #97
My thoughts on 'Reflektor' by Arcade Fire:
"Afterlife" was the only track on 'Reflektor' I had heard prior to listening to this album in full and it was a track I fully enjoyed and loved immensely, so I thought there would have been plenty more similar on 'Reflektor', but honestly after fully listening to the album, "Afterlife" is far above anything else. No other track has that insanely beautiful chorus, infectious vocals, and a gorgeous sound quite like "Afterlife" does. That is not to say that the rest of the album is terrible, it's not, but it does have a lot more evident weak spots than their previous record 'The Suburbs'. Tracks like "Reflektor", "Normal Person", and "It's Never Over" particularly feel like they drag on for far too long. The standouts on the record for me were "We Exist", "Joan of Arc", "****o", and of course "Afterlife". I feel that 'Reflektor' is a good album, but it is one that seemingly lacks much replay value (outside of a few tracks), and an album that will leave you feeling sort of indifferent, rather than emotionally energized.

Looking back, after listening to this album, they definitely deserved it so I am glad they won. Oh yes, both of those tracks you mentioned are definitely in my top six or seven tracks on the album probably. I just finished listening to 'Reflektor' and while I did not find it as enjoyable as 'The Suburbs' there are still some really tracks on the record that I absolutely love. Lol mess, I hope you have been making some good progress on this list. Haha.

They are already one of my favorite bands after only hearing two of their albums, so I am excited to listen to their others now! I expect them to be even better than 'Reflektor', which is great considering that it was no where near a terrible record.
