And yet you were pleading with people for them to buy Departure and it hasn't even sold 200k. Your logic ends up hurting the artists you love so much, you know that right?
No, 99 cents doesn't sound unreasonable to me at all. If you listen to the song 10-20 times, you're getting a lot of play for your money. What about a frappucino, you pay nearly $4 and get one use out of it. A cigarette alone costs nearly 50 cents in most states (and almost a dollar in NY) and you get only one use out of it. A movie ticket costs $7-$10 and you only get one use out of it. Who cares if you get something tangible out of your dollar? Because you're either going to throw it away immediately or leave it on a shelf to gather dust.

Now I don't understand the personal attack on another member here. We are arguing about music downloading here, but there is no reason to make it personal. I sleep at night just fine and I'm sure the member you were talking to does too. As a matter of fact, we sleep better knowing we didn't spend additional money that day to buy music.

Forget it. We were making a point and he kept disagreeing by saying exactly the same thing even when it didn't make sense. It is not important anymore.

But it's the same as the albums.
You can play it at the same amount.

Computers crash, iPods crash. You lose everything.
Albums don't. That is if you take care of them. So why waste .99 cents, clearly when it's overpriced, for something that you probably will most likely end up losing?
I still buy albums, but only by ar****ts that are worth buying. It took me a few months to go out and buy Archie's album, because I didn't have the money to spend, but I really loved the album and wanted to go support him. If the album was nothing special, I wouldnt' have it now...
And again, we don't live in a perfect world, you can't control what people do or not do. You can only manipulate them into thinking differently...

So what though? Would you rather pay directly for the songs you like, or pay for a more expensive item loaded with a lot of "filler" you don't want? That's the way everything in our economy works, doesn't it? Things cost more individually than they do in bulk.

Ok, I forgot about that...
I still rather buy a full than a part.

If you're not a complete idiot and have a backup drive and always have antivirus software running, you should be fine.

The internet is not a "right," it is a privilege, and by using it to pirate copyrighted material you are abusing that privilege. Simple enough, actions have consequences. Just because you pay for the internet service doesn't mean you get free reign over everything else. Music is a separate entity and you must pay for that as a separate cost.
|
Well, you didn't have to get all bitchy. I understand the privilege part. Still doesn't change how pretty much majority of people download illegally, and cutting off their internet would make the companies suffer.

You have to be naive to believe the ISP would risk losing their customers to serve RIAA. This is ******** and they will probably do it for one or two publicly to scare the airheads like JTard.

This is ridiculous. Instead of looking for ways to block ISPs from illegal downloading they must be creating stores like iTunes available worldwide, in all currencies. Believe me, I can pay $1 for a song, because I'm not miserable. However, I can't do it since there's no iTunes Store or any other kind of store in my country, specially in Latin America. That forces me to download them through P2P software, and don't tell me Last.fm or any of them, since it is a pain to visit the site everytime I want to hear the song and I can't transfer them to the iPhone. The majority of albums come after 2 or 3 months (at least) of being released, they have to make ways to speed up this process instead of making drastic decisions like this one. Even if they really do that there will always be a hack. Piracy can't be defeated, especially as technology evolves, accept it.

This won't work.
If they will cut the internet to people, the internet compeny will loss.
Besides, alot of people download music yet, buy album.
And, with sites like Youtube, people sometimes don't bother to even download music but just listen to it over there.
Lets say they will kill the file sharing, people could still rip off the songs from the Youtube videos.
What's next?Killing Youtube?Killing the internet? .
They just can't stop it, they need to realize this is how it is these day and find a way to adjust to the situation.
