A one-hit wonder doesn't have to be a new artist, they only need to have had one big song no matter at what point of their career (i.e. Snow Patrol, Plain White T's, Nick Lachey)
But clearly Mariah, Jesse and Danity Kane have more than one hit
I just think people think of other countries chart. E.g. if you said to me Snow Patrol was a one hit wonder, I would be saying they weren't because to me they aren't. But in the U.S. they've only had one top 10, and anything else they've released hasn't done well.
lady gaga
miley cyrus
leona lewis
new kids on the block
Lady GaGa - if you counting just the US, then SHE'S ONLY RELEASED ONE SINGLE! If you're talking world wide, POKERFACE IS #1 IS TONS OF COUNTRIES!
Miley Cyrus - 7 Things peaked higher than See You Again!
Leona Lewis - Seriously? Bleeding Love #1 and Better In Time #11 (at least in the US) that's definitely not a one hit wonder.
New Kids on the Block - Again, seriously? Check out their positions from way back when they actually were new.
I think the only artists that seriously really apply to be one hit wonders of 2008 are...
Sara Bareilles (Love Song) [She's probably out the list, closest to not being once. Bottle It Up didn't do too bad in airplay. It stayed between 40 and 30 on Mediabase for weeks, but it really never went anywhere.]
M.I.A. (Paper Planes)
Yael Naďm (New Soul)
Estelle (American Boy)
Duffy (Mercy) [In the US]
Duffy?one hit wonder?
WTF?
Warwick Avenue,Stepping Stone & Rain On Your Parade have al been huge WW.as for the US Mercy was hardly a hit there so she doesnt count.

In the US - Duffy is definitely a one hit wonder. And Mercy wasn't huge, but it did good. Did you know that it's STILL on the iTunes Top 120! It has never fallen off since it has been released. In my area, it was played at least twice a day! It also was #19 on VH1's Top 40 of 2008!
And what's hilarious is that my dad LOVES that song! And he's 43!
Lady GaGa hasn't officially released her 2nd single yet so she doesn't apply yet.
And Miley Cyrus had to hits this year: "See You Again" & "7 Things".
Leona had 2 hits: "Bleeding Love" & "Better in Time".
New Kids On the Block aren't new artists anymore so they don't apply, plus they have had a string of hits in the past.
Please try again when you fully understand the concept. kthanxbye.
i do understand the concept. sorry if you dont like my choices. what are your choices?
You obviously don't if those are the choices you picked.
Good examples of one hit wonders this year would be Colby O'Donis & Kardinal Offishall.
You put freakin New Kids On The Block who established themselves A LONG time ago
im not that only one that put down lady gaga & others i dont know why your coming after only me when alot of people did the same thing. thats not fair you should give e1 grief.

We are, it's just that you did not only put Lady GaGa (which as of right now, is completely and utterly wrong), but you put artists like Miley who had two top 10 hits, Leona Lewis, who has had two top 15 hits, and New Kids on the Block who has had 9 top 10 hits!

I came after you because you put a list of ppl that don't even apply which happened to include Lady GaGa.
stop mentioning Kevin Rudolf, he hasnt had 2nd single out yet.
and Metro Station's 2nd single has just been released, so its invalid to name them.
Too bad this year's is Sara Bareilles.
I hope in the future, she can prove me (us) wrong.
Although I doubt that she has another easy-listening song like Love Song. <3333

I like duffy but...
Stepping stone wasn't huge, and rain on your parade its not a hit so far. And Warwick avenue was a minor hit with good airplay.
