Thanks for your comments, everyone. Whoo, I got to five pages this year, one more than last year.
1. Close Your Eyes/Kelly Clarkson
Best lyrics: You might fall and I might cry
Covered in bruises
I refuse to let this tear apart our lives
Others talk, let them talk
Love isn't easy but it's worth it for you
7th year in a row that Queen of Music Kelly wins. Even if it's a demo, it's pretty much flawless, which I can't say about any other song in 2008. At least my entire top three isn't Kelly like last year. Maybe next year...
2. Love Story/Taylor Swift
Best lyrics: I got tired of waiting
Wondering if you were ever coming around
My faith in you was fading
When I met you on the outskirts of town I said:
”Romeo save me I've been feeling so alone
I keep waiting for you but you never come
Is this in my head, I don't know what to think”
He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring
I think that if it weren't for my problems with some of the allusions the song makes that sort of don't make sense, this could have taken #1. Oh, well. She had the only good album this year, which by Tuesday should be the second-best-selling to be released in 2008.
3. Womanizer/Britney Spears
Best lyrics: You say I’m crazy
I got your crazy
The princess of pop, with my third-favorite video of hers. However, the song itself, without the video, wouldn't be nearly as great. So it's #3. Still, comeback of the year and hopefully the album goes double platinum.
