i think the only problem with this era were the singles chosen, although bye bye was a nice song, it shouldnt' have been the 2ns single. Ive Been loving u long time was a good single, but shouldve been like the 4th single, I love stay in love, i think it wouldve made a better 2nd single (with better video), migrate would have also been great for 3rd. i think she had her comeback, and could have kept it, but singles were chosen wrong

TEOM was a masterpiece and I loved every song on the album. Most of all it was COHESIVE. I couldn't get into E=MC2 at all. I can easily point out the ones I like where as I can listen to TEOM without ever skipping and enjoying every single track.

That's definitely true. I'm thinking that the reason was is that with TEOM, Mariah was more focused and determined and not sidetracked with other projects or Nick Cannon.

I become a really big fan of Mariah when she released "We Belong Together" & "Get your Number", I didn't buy TEOM, but i loved all the single releases.
The Point is, you said you didn't get into E=MC² at all, bcause I was such a fan of Mariah i bought E=MC² and I did get into it at all

Like so many others have said, I think that the singles were chosen wrong. The album is good, but the era just got messed up. Its a shame because I think that I'll Be Lovin' You Long Time could have been a huge summertime smash, and I think Migrate would have done really well too. Bye Bye wasn't too bad, but for some reason it never took off and that's where things went off track. If she were to re-release the album, choosing a bonus track and one of the original tracks as the singles and if she were to promote the hell out of the re-release, I think she could still find some success with this era. Does anyone know how much E=MC2 sold? I though I read somewhere on here that it was one of the highest selling releases of the year. Overall, she didn't do too bad sales wise. I think its natural that she wouldn't be as successful with her follow-up to TEOM because TEOM was such a successful album. BTW, I recently discovered "It's Like That" and now I'm considering buying TEOM three years late haha. "It's Like That" is the jam!

She's boring and lip synchs nearly every performance she gives these days. I laughed at her poor attempt to re-create "The Emancipation of Mimi" with this album. FAIL.

Ok, so I looked back at some older posts and somebody said that TMB and the album were both #1...that's pretty good! I think that the major flaw with this era was that it wasn't different enough from TEOM to step out of TEOM's huge shadow. For people who don't actually own the album, nothing was fresh enough to make them pay a lot of attention. I think releasing Migrate, Side Effects, I'm That Chick or For The Record would have helped to differentiate E=MC2 from TEOM on the radio.
