A peak is your highest era, btw, not a matter of years. For example, Mariah slayed through the 90s and again in 2005. If you made a graph of her chart success, the peak would be the highest point, aka Music Box. A peak is ONE era.
Ugh this is hard. I'm stuck between Madonna, Mariah and Britney.
But as far as I can remember, Britney was one of the biggest phenomenons of the generation. She was every where. Record labels were putting out artists that were trying to look, sound, and dress like Britney just to get the success Britney had. Every store you went to had Britney dolls, Britney cameras, Britney video games (dance groove), Britney towels, bed sheets, pillows. It was crazy. She caused a tabloid and media frenzy like no other.
I'm a little older so I remember when Madonna, Mariah, Whitney and Celine Dion became huge too and I don't think they got as much attention as Britney. And I don't think either one of them were as big of a phenomenon as Britney either.

But the question is not who got the most attention. Their peaks are all about their professional careers.
In Madonna's peak she managed 10 number 1's. With a total of 24 Top ten hits.
Madonna also managed the worlds top grossing tours (of that time)
During her peak, she also had legions of girls (and boys) wearing bra's on the outside as a fashion statement.
During Madonna's peak she made jean paul gaultier a household name.
During Madonna's peak she created a style that everyone would later use to refrence the 80's. An entire decade is refrenced by Madonna's 80's looks. (The fingerless gloves, tights, headbands and bangles)
There's simply no competition. Can anyone even name one of the girls mentioned that had 10 number 1's and 24 top ten hits during their peak??? anyone?

I agree. And I get what you are saying. I am a huge Madonna stan. I don't want to reveal exactly how old I am but let's just say that I was mature and old enough to remember Madonna's peak. It was a grand one indeed. The trends that Madonna started are still referred to till this day.
But as I mentioned before, when I look back and compare which pop starlet got the most attention and the one who was the biggest phenomenon, Britney tops Madonna in my opinion. Britney, like Madonna, had controversy after controversy. And she caused a media frenzy like we have never seen before. Britney still holds the record for the highest selling female album (Opps I Did It Again).
Madonna and Mariah come very close. Madonna and Mariah both have more #1's than Britney but I don't think #1's exactly describe how grand the peak of an artist is. There are other factors that all play into this as well.
Gaga albums-wise. The Fame's 15+ million in the digital era is almost unheard of. Besides Adele, nobody else comes even close. Whereas 20 million selling albums were pretty common in the 80s/90s/00s

Slay with those posts. And this coming from Madonna's fan. You said everything what I want to say.
Y'all must don't know what a peak is. Bringing in career receipts & current relevancy just stop it. No female era is bigger than the bodyguard point blank period. The movie, the music, the tour, the awards, the media attention. Britney doesn't come close to madonna, Mariah, & Celine. I can only speak on Britney's & Gaga's media attention because I actually lived through it. Madonna used to be the second most photographed woman in the world after Princess Diana, so I think her media attention was big also.
In terms if peaks
Whitney> Madonna= Mariah> Celine> Britney> Gaga
That's factoring in everything. Now how long their peaks lasted is another discussion.

But Madonna remains the Queen of Pop.
I understand what you're saying but again, you keep going back to the same thing. A peak is not measured on media attention. Michael Jackson, any Winehouse, Marilyn Monroe got more attention when they died than they did when they were alive. Is that then considered their peak? Of course not. A peak refers to the success of the artist at that time.
Madonna was more successful professionally than all of them during her peak. - for sure, we can say that others may have received more attention but a professional peak refers to hits, number 1's touring and anything to do with their professional career.
