Yep. Even so, not all causes are equally valued by everyone. And in general, almost every war is about the gains (territorial, money, oil or religious reasons etc), regardless of the casualties.

The thing is even if I knew the cause was worth it, I'm a pacifist through and through. Violence only perpetuates an endless cycle. You have to stop somewhere. You have to take into account that some people will never hold up psychologically in ware.

The only reason I don't mock the flag or the soldiers is because I had a brother in Iraq. So I get the moral attraction. I respect the reasons why someone would want to. It just doesn't appeal to me.

I've been leaning towards the pacifist side after serving myself and reading about the pacifist views. You should read a book called The Nonviolent Revolution Rulebook by Gene Sharp. He makes a lot of great points that I agree with.

One would like to imagine a world without wars, but that is simply wishful thinking. There will always be bad people making bad decisions. And because of this a country should be able to defend itself from invasion. You would't be against a family keeping a gun at home in case a burglar decides to invade their home. It should not be any different for a country to keep its borders safe.

I know its illegal in the UK. Are you for or against a person keeping a weapon at home in case someone decides to invade it and threaten your family? At least every two weeks here in my city I hear of a home getting invaded. Just last week, a woman had to hide in her closet because a group of young males were breaking in her home. Luckily they didn't check the closet she was in, but what if they had. Not having something to defend herself with because its illegal is just wrong to me. That's just my opinion.

I would personally want to grab a knife or axe in that situation tbh. If you're coming to my house to terrorize me then you should leave on a stretcher with an eye gouged out and several open wounds. I think it's illegal in the UK to grab a weapon to self-defend yourself. Mylene Klass grabbed a knife to ward off people who were trying to break into her home and got a police warning.
