I like him and all, but he isn't happening. Maybe with better material, but seeing as how that probably won't happen
I honestly don't think the quality of his work his what's holding him down. It's obviously 1D keeping him grounded. Same thing that happened to Cody Simpson with Bieber.

Austin, now THIS is what you need to be releasing in order to become more relevant Watch him turn around and release more stuff like "MMM Yeah" though

He really needs to stop releasing these singles, his era's already becoming a complete "let's try everything until something works" mess. Oh well, now's probably the best time to experiment with sounds and singles rather than later on on his career. If they can establish something that really works, Austin can go far. I actually really enjoyed his EP and "What About Love". "Mmm Yeah" is the best thing he's released since. He needs to stick with his more pop sound, it really works for him.
One bomb and an underperformance didn't kill the genre. True, I expected 1D to at the very least have beaten Bieber's first film in its opening weekend, if not its lifetime gross. I also expected "Believe" to have a Jonas-like performance knowing that his popularity was significantly trailing 1D's at the time. I'm hoping Austin, or at least a second 1D movie, can put some liveliness back into the genre.
