Brandy| May Go Unscathed In Vehicular Homicide Case
Daily Hip-Hop News:
SOHH Soulful: Brandy May Go Unscathed In Vehicular Homicide Case
Thursday - November 29, 2007 by Brandi Hopper
Time is running out for the L.A. City Attorney's Office to file criminal charges against R&B star Brandy for her involvement in the death of a woman last year, due to a car accident.
Statutes only allow one year from the date of the incident to file criminal charges, and the first anniversary of the accident is coming up fast. Though the California Highway Patrol found that Brandy was responsible for the car crash victim's death, Brandy has yet to be charged with vehicular manslaughter, according to TMZ.
Sources say the City Attorney's Office won't make a decision until that last moment. If charges aren't filed, the holiday rush will keep the public from noticing and the case might just disappear quietly.
The victim, Awatef Aboudihaj, was the mother of two boys and her family doesn't plan on allowing the terrible accident to be forgotten. Bill Sayed, who is the lawyer for the victim's husband, Marouane Hdidou, is questioning the hold-up.
"There is a death and obviously reckless driving involved, which is enough evidence for an involuntary manslaughter charge," Sayed told the entertainment news outlet. "As to why the City Attorney has taken this long? I think we would all like to know."
Meanwhile, it seems to the family that Brandy has moved on from the event, unscathed.
"Brandy continues to live life with really no negative results ... doing what Brandy is doing ... as if though nothing has occurred here," Sayed said. "Thanksgiving just passed and [my client] was all alone -- he has no family here."
Though the singer is performing again and prepping a new release, all's not well for Brandy.
She's been hit with wrongful death suits filed against her from the parents and children of the victim. Also, another motorist, Mallory Ham, filed a suit against the singer/actress, accusing her of "recklessly wantonly, unlawfully, and maliciously," operating her vehicle.
In the midst of all the controversy, the former television star stepped down from her position on NBC's "America's Got Talent" this April, issuing a statement that she felt unable to give the new season the commitment and attention it deserved.
The fatal car accident occurred on December 30 around 10:30 a.m. Brandy was reportedly driving northbound on the 405 Freeway, going about 65 mph in her Range Rover. She didn't notice when traffic in front of her slowed and rammed into Awatef Aboudijah's car, causing the victim to veer to the left where she was hit by another car before slamming into the center median. Awatef died eight hours later at the hospital, succumbing to massive internal bleeding.

I'm sorry for these people who are still grieving for their lost loved one but they are truly A-holes. "recklessly, wantonly, unlawfully, and maliciously" operating her vehicle, MY ASS!! Brandy WASN'T under the influence, Brandy WASN'T speeding, Brandy WASN'T being irresponsible. Accidents like this happen on a regular basis--I have been involved in some and survived thankfully. They're making her sound like she's an out of control, inhumane criminal even though she's never been involved in something like this in the 15 years she's been driving. Give me an F-ing break! So what, because Brandy accidentally took away your daughters life--you're not going to rest until she's lost her life in return? there was absolutely no malice here, why are they going to such great lengths to see Brandy fry? I can understand when someone makes irrational statements during times of mourning, but they need to recognize Brandy is a human too. They need to agree on a settlement, which I'm sure will be very generous considering how bad Brandy must feel about the incident and let life move on.

Exactly. That dude is an asshole..he didn't even live in the same state as his wife. They weren't even together at the time..he just wants money. Brandy is such a kind girl anyway, I'm sure she would've/still will offer money if not charged. They never mention how many accidents like that happen ALL the time + the fact that the expressway they were on is particularly dangerous. I dunno why they're drawing this out so long.

I Was not sure, if Brandy was coming or not, but as soon as I saw this I knew she was there, i had studied her truck to be able to spot it , within a 3 mile radius
But Brandy was not driving her truck. It was her cousin/assistant or whatever, the guy. So I go inside to VIP, and my friend ask Ray J if Brandy was coming, he said No.... i believe im not sure the music was loud.
Then a few moments later, my friend goes shes here, and I was about to go crazy lmao, And then she walked up to the VIP area (upstairs) were Ray J was already sitting around and starting dancing and partying I was CHILLING ( me and a my friend) with Brandy in V.I.P. ALL NiGHT We Danced, we partied, we talked, We told her how much we love her, her singles, and asked about her cd, she said its bangggging. I told her about B Source, and she just lit up. Brandy was then standing on the sofa dancing, and when she went to get down, she grabbed on my shoulder and i helped her down ..... I wasnt worthy :notworthy:
Then the photographers starting taking pictures of brandy & ray J
heres some video i took of that, because the flash gave me light to record....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWq39UEl51g
funny story, as we were all leaving, Brandy was walking to her car, and The paparazzi start to walk up, Ray is getting in his car, she leaves her car, and tells ray J to open the door now, she saw them coming, i guess it wasn't registering to him, and she yelled RAY, LETS GO NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! she jumped in and he drove off, and her friend or whatever drove her car, she really didnt want them to see her out partying or maybe driving ..... awww
More Pictures.......
i have more video, but its mostly only audible, you can hear us talking, but because it was so dark you couldnt see anything

Brandy| Dead woman at fault? Car Accident Update
Quote:
TMZ has learned the hang-up in deciding whether to file vehicular manslaughter charges against Brandy is that Brandy may have been a victim, not a culprit.
A CHP source tells TMZ the woman who died in the car accident involving Brandy actually struck the vehicle in front of her before Brandy made any contact. The law enforcement source says Awatef Aboudihaj, the woman who died, struck the car in front of her -- which was going 65 mph, and then slammed on her brakes. We're told the sudden stop caused Brandy to hit the dead woman's car.
What's more, L.A. County Coroner spokesperson Captain Ed Winter tells TMZ that toxicology reports show Aboudihaj had "slight traces" of marijuana in her system at the time of the crash.
The L.A. City Attorney has until the end of the business day on Friday to decide whether to file criminal charges against Brandy -- that's when the one-year statute of limitations runs out. Sources tell TMZ there is significant division in the City Attorney's office, and a decision still has not been made. The problem for the City Attorney: if they file manslaughter charges, they have to prove Brandy did something negligent -- and we're told that could be difficult if not impossible.

It's pretty much case closed if the dead woman is at fault.
