Paramore - Paramore
The Essential Tracks: Fast In My Car, Now, Grow Up, Still Into You, Future
I've always been a big fan of Paramore but despite that, I had never bought one of their albums until they dropped their self-titled 4th album, "Paramore" this year. Many fans actually say this is their best offering, and while I can't say it is or isn't obviously, I can see how it would be since this is a great LP. The album effortlessly blends alternative and catchy pop, especially on tracks like "Still Into You", "Ain't It Fun", and "Hate To See Your Heart Break", which are easily some of the standouts. Actually, I find it hard to even list standouts for this album since pretty much all of the songs are great. Even the three interludes that break up the album are enjoyable little ukulele-tinged offerings. My only complaint for this would be that while all of the songs are good, only two or three really BLEW ME AWAY. "Future" is one of those instances, and it's probably one of the most emotional songs I've heard all year. Even though half of the track is only instrumentation, even the wailing guitars carry such emotion, that it would be hard to not be moved. I know that as a band Paramore faced many issues leading up to the release of this album, but I think that all of those issues are what lead them to release an amazing album, one that is one of my favorites of the whole year.

Prism - Katy Perry
The Essential Tracks: Roar, Birthday, Dark Horse, This Is How We Do, International Smile
I have seven problems with "Prism" and they are tracks nine through sixteen, except "Spiritual". I just cannot fathom why Katy would record so many boring ballads/mid-tempos and let them make the album, and then to top it off put them one right after another on the tracklist. Dreadful. None of them stick out to me in any way, shape, or form. They all sound the same and every single one of them sounds like the obligatory "I have to put this song on my album because I went through a divorce and I'm sad wahhh" track. ANYWAY, Let's move away from the trash and discuss the first half of the album, which includes some of Katy's best songs. "Roar" ended up being Katy's biggest song, and with good reason. It's an amazingly crafted tune, with a unique chorus. My personal favorite from the album is "International Smile" which for whatever reason has gotten a bunch of flack from fans. It's flawless and would smash. "Birthday" is insanely infectious and I love the throwback sound of it. Even though the trap banger "Dark Horse" sticks out like a sore thumb, I'm glad that Katy showed us that side of her and gave us that boppa. "Spiritual" is the only song on the last half of the album that I like, because it doesn't sound forced or cheesy at all. It truly is a standout on the album. I find "Prism" to be very different than Katy's previous album "Teenage Dream", at least sonically. What won't be different however, is the amount of success she will enjoy from both albums, because even though Katy will only be able to choose singles from tracks one through eight, all of them can go at least top 10 so she's set. This bitch better deliver a GREAT album next time though.

Tonight I'm Getting Over You - Carly Rae Jepsen
Now when I bought Carly's album for 99 cents on Amazon in December of last year I was expecting a cute song or two, at least I wasn't losing too much money on it. But bitch when I tell you that album slayed my life in half I'm not KIDDING. And then I get to this song late on the tracklist, not expecting a EDM BOP, so when that breakdown hit me for the first time I think I yelped in ecstasy. This song just DOES things to me, I can't describe it. Carly released one of the best Dance-Pop songs of the year, no doubt about it. And **** radios for letting it flop.

Better Dig Two - The Band Perry
I have the suspicions that many of you ho's probably haven't heard this sing and well, YOUR LOSS! "Better Dig Two" is definitely my favorite country single of 2013. Kim just owns tha track. My favorite lyrics are "It won't be whiskey, it won't be METH, it'll be your name on my last BREATH!" Yasssss kill em sis. The instrumentation is really great as well. Get into this haunting and sinister country HIT!

Gangsta - Kat Dahlia
Now wait. Kill them Kat. "Gangsta" has one of the best choruses of the year, and the production is so ominous and enticing. I love the way my sis is rapping, yet her voice is so amazing it sounds like shes singing those verses. I kinda forgot about her after this song though so let me go look up her new stuff. The only thing I don't like about this song is that she says "spliff" when she could have just said blunt or something. But anyway once again radios dropped the ball by letting this masterpiece flop. Why am I not surprised.

Sweet Nothing (feat. Florence Welch) - Calvin Harris
I have been a big Florence fan for years now and when I heard her on this dance jam I was living!! This is one of Calvin's better beats imo and Flo soars over the production like she lives for this ****. Is she still doing that EDM album? I really hope so, it'll probably be my favorite alba of 2014 if she is.

Applause - Lady Gaga
"Applause" is a cute little song but ultimately disappointing. When you think of a big popstar coming back on the scene you think of a big epic pop masterpiece that is going to blow you away. "Applause" is just so little and basic to me. However, I still like it a lot, and as a 5th or 6th single I wouldn't think anything of it. It's just weird to me that she brought this out first.

Applause is amazing! Tonight I'm Getting Over You
Sweet Nothing was a big disappointment for me, and it's one of my least favorite singles from Calvin Harris, but is not bad

Wake Me Up - Avicii
I think that after this song smashed it started the whole country/folk-dance/pop sound and I LIVE for it. Even though one would think the country music and dance music are complete opposites, they mesh incredibly well together, and I think "Wake Me Up" is the prime example of this. Avicii recruited Aloe Blacc for his song and he hit it out of the park. The production is absolutely stunning and euphoric. There is really no way this song wouldn't have been a smash hit... and that's exactly what it was!

Started From the Bottom - Drake
"Started From the Bottom" is easily one of my favorite Drake songs. The production is one of my favorites from this year. It's mesmerizing and a little eerie, and hits all the right places. If I remember right, Drake caught some flack for this song for it being weak or something, but in all honesty this is the kind of music that I know and love from Drake and would kill for more tracks like this. So glad this was a big hit.

Work Bitch - Britney Spears
Lmao this is the knock. I quote this song like at least three times a day. "Work Bitch" cracks me up so much but not like in a bad way. I just love the ferociousness that Brinty conveys yassss sis. And it doesn't hurt that the beat is a bad bitch as well. Sigh this song should have been successful but I'm glad Britney gave us this song no matter what. Definitely one of my top Britney songs, and one of my favorite pop songs of the whole year.

Domo23 - Tyler, The Creator
This was the song that introduced me to Tyler, and I immediately had to hear more. I bought his first album and listened to this song like 35 times in one day which is pretty crazy for me. The beat of "Domo23" is fine but the lyrics are what really drew me in ("Now me and Justin smoke sherm and been talking 'bout freeing perms/And purchasing weapons, naming them and aim 'em in one direction"). Also the video is hilarious.

Come & Get It - Selena Gomez
I think that this is easily Selena's best song yet. It reminds me so much of summer, and takes me back everytime I listen. The beat is fire (it was supposed to be for tha Queen so no surprise there ) And even though Selena doesn't have much of a voice she sounds nice over the beat. She also looks hotter than hell in the video. Good job with this one, miss Gomez.
