Janet Jackson's last album sold more than the total in just ONE WEEK. Yet everybody's calling that album a flop.

I highly doubt "Stranger" will boost the album's sales considering Hilary has a limited fanbase and chances are that they already own the album. Second of all, Hilary's singles have never been all that successful here in the US, they usually get a mild reception at best. Like I said in another post, Hilary is popular for being "Lizzie McGuire"--that's why so many kids bought her first album, not for her music, but for who she was. Third, "Dignity" is not really a mainstream cd at the moment. Lastly, I want to point out that "Dignity" is not a flop, it might only sell 400k-500k, but it is a personal accomplishment for Hilary and she should be proud of that, Janet's "20 YO" on the other hand, was a definite flop because she wasn't doing anything new and all of the songs were boring---the only reason it sold 635k was because Janet's fanbase has 20 years of history--they buy the album just to support Janet regardless of whether or not her music is any good. Hilary's diehard fans are the same way, I personally find "Dignity" to be kind of bland, but I commend Hilary for at least venturing in a new direction and being experimental. Don't write her off just yet!
