I said for music scene, not for Mariah. It's hilarious how MC stans act like it was such a majestic event when she only happened in the US. I am done with you all.
Considering the fact that it was dubbed the song of the DECADE and Mariah went from being a flop to the HBIC it WAS a majestic event, and Mariah being the HBIC IS her affecting the music scene.
Stop acting like WBT is only known in the U.S the ignorance.

They're just.. the poll says the real answer anyway so what they say doesn't matter much

Surprise, surprise. It was dubbed the song of the decade in the US. And Mariah went from being a flop to HBIC (as you said) in the american market. Elsewhere her performance was lackluster. Emancipation was big in one market, the american. That's about it, that's something you're apparently not understanding. I am sorry but for my standards being successful in only one market is not enough to surpass Madonna's incredibly successful performance in all the world. Am I making myself clear?

Yes it was number 1 in the U.S, the biggest, most important, most influential music market in the world. So I'm not sure why you're trying to downplay the U.S
and Emancipation was still able to outsell Confessions and all of it's globalness, so obviously Emancipation didn't that badly so..

I can't with you hoes acting like Emancipation was some major flop. How in the hell do you go about selling 10+ million albums worldwide (according to the OP, both albums sold roughly the same amount) and be considered a flop? I just can't fathom the hatred for Mariah you Madonna stans have.....

Madonna is global not because of her genre, but because she re-invented herself. Mariah stayed the same, image wise and material (music) was. That's the primary reason why Mariah fell off big-time success wise and relevancy wise (globally) after Daydream.
And WBT was local, no one remembers it. HU by far is not only more successful, but more memorable. And that's a fact.
To put this in simple terms:
- Madonna is global. She re-invented her image and music numerous of times, while Mariah did not. Genre is not the only reliant factor.
- In terms of being global: In today's age, Madonna = Rihanna, Mariah = Beyonce. Rihanna now is 100% global, Beyonce...was at some point but not so much anymore. If you compare Mariah and Madonna's last album charts together, you can see who the public wants more.
And to clock this lying ass post, Mariah DEFINITELY reinvented her image. Before the Butterfly era, Mariah was known as a Pop/R&B artist and went to a full blown R&B/Hip Hop sound. Your lack of knowledge is evident in this post.

I like Mariah, and I've heard her music in full multiple times. She stayed with the same image and sound.
Where did I ever say you live in the States? Improve your reading comprehension, please.
You said WBT was bigger than HU. And that only applies to the american market cause everywhere else in the world HU succeed while WBT underperformed or failed. HU holds the record for topping most charts around the world, and you expect us to believe WBT was bigger when it only topped three charts? Get real. Emancipation era is a non-factor everywhere but the US.
You said it was ONLY bigger than HU in the States, yet I live in Canada and WBT is far more popular, which discredits your statement about it being bigger everywhere else. ALSO a song can be bigger than another song even if one charts higher. Plenty of ICONIC songs never made it to the top of the charts, (lucky for WBT it did...And stayed there for 14 weeks) so whether HU charted higher doesn't necessarily make it a "bigger" song.

And despise US being the biggest market, Mariah's material failed to match its success everywhere else. Therefore, it didn't helped that it was successful in the US. I won't argue with you anymore. You are a blinded stan, therefore your obstinacy won't allow you to see simple and logical facts. That marks the end of this conversation.

Sadly for you WBT is not an iconic song on a worldwide scale, so don't even try it. One thing I have noticed thanks to this thread is that MC stans are very obstinate and no matter how illogical and deluded they sound, they won't change their opinion even if it sounds lame and stupid. Good night.

Maybe you need to change YOUR opinion. Mariah has no impact worldwide? Explain the sold out shows across the globe.
Also:
Will is THE biggest Madonna stan I know, (Verify it on twitter @TheOneRitz) and he admits WBT has more impact that HU. So if one Madonna stan can admit the truth, why can't you babe?
Do you see a significant change, though? All I see is a mixed black girl in various dresses
Google is your friend because if you can't see the difference between an obviously conservatively dressed girl and a sexually charged, half dressed woman, there is a major issue.
Use google and search about her image before her Butterfly album (Honey video) and after.
