Thanks to the ghost of Captain Jack for voting. I don't mean the late musician with songs featured on Dance Dance Revolution. I mean Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Carribbean. But why did Captain Jack the DDR musician have to die prematurely? I won't get to hear any new songs from him related to the US military. Here is the countdown for October 20, 2006.
Close calls:
13. Fergie - "London Bridge" 3/R/5
12. Gnarls Barkley - "Crazy" 14/R/7
11. Evanescence - "Call Me When You're Sober" 27/-1/4
10. Hilary Duff - "Play With Fire" 11/+1/6 (Top ten return.)

To everyone who voted, I'll count your votes for the 22nd's countdown. I'm a little behind right now as of this posting. Today I have the premiere of the new video from Lillix. Here is the countdown for October 21, 2006.
Close calls:
13. Fergie - "London Bridge" 3/=/5
12. Evanescence - "Call Me When You're Sober" 27/-1/4

10. Gnarls Barkley - "Crazy" 15/+2/7 (Top ten return.)
9. Hilary Duff - "Play With Fire" 12/+1/6

2. AFI - "Love Like Winter" 6/+3/1@1
1. Paris Hilton - "Nothing In This World" 4/+2/ 1@1
Premiere: Lillix - Sweet Temptation
Here it is. The comeback video from Lillix that I've been waiting for. You can watch this video at http://www.lillix.com. During the chorus, a bunch of fans start jumping up and down and dancing to the music. The first verse is sung by Tasha-Ray, the second verse by Louise and the third verse by Lacey-Lee. Alicia plays the drums in this video. I don't know if Alicia has any singing parts on the upcoming album, but I'd imagine she's too busy playing drums like Travis Barker to feel like singing. Anyways, this video definitely has what it takes to be number one. So far, eight different consecutive videos have occupied the number one spot. Lillix will be the ninth, but after that, the number one spot is up for grabs to anyone who has already been at number one and maybe a few others. I don't care if this video was released on January 1, 2006. It's still a good video from a band I have loved in the past and haven't grown tired of yet.

Thanks to Randy, Johnny and mybonnie for voting. Whoah there, mybonnie! Too many votes there. "Maneater" is already retired. I think JoJo's video is boring and not worthy of my countdown. I plan to premiere MCR's video in the future. As for Christina Aguilera, I'm not too fond of her video, but I guess I could premiere it. Panic! At the Disco's video is interesting, but I'm not sure where it would fit in. Everything else is up to me to watch, including Depeche Mode and Thom Yorke. Here is the countdown for October 22, 2006.
Close calls:
13. Weird Al Yankovic - "White and Nerdy" 15/R/7
12. Beyonce - "Ring The Alarm" 1/R/9
11. The Killers - "When You Were Young" 17/R/7
10. Evanescence - "Call Me When You're Sober" 28/+2/4 (Top ten return.)

3. Lily Allen - "LDN" 6/=/1@1
2. +44 - "When Your Heart Stops Beating" 8/+3/1@1
1. Lillix - "Sweet Temptation" 1/D/1@1 (Number one debut!!!!!!)
Number ones from the past on this date:

2002: Madonna - "Die Another Day" (First day at #1, 5 days on countdown. If I had a countdown going back in January 2006, Madonna's video "Hung Up" would have debuted and retired on my countdown.)

10-25-06 Disturbed Retirement Special
Thanks to the ghost of Millard Fillmore for voting. Today is the day that Disturbed's video retires from my countdown. I have the premiere of the new Girls Aloud video "Something Kinda Ooh." Here is the countdown for October 25, 2006.
Close calls:
13. Aly & AJ - "Chemicals React" 2/R/8
12. Justin Timberlake - "SexyBack" 4/R/10
11. Evanescence - "Call Me When You're Sober" 30/-1/4
10. Hilary Duff - "Play With Fire" 13/+3/6 (Top ten return.)
9. Korn - "Politics" 11/-1/4
8. Lady Sovereign 8/R/6 (Top ten return.)
7. Pink - "U & UR Hand 9/-1/1@1
And now the retirement of the first video from Disturbed to make my countdown. "Land of Confusion" is the eighth retired video of 2006 (retired video number 256 since my countdown began) and it retires with 119 IC points.
6. Disturbed - "Land of Confusion" 35/+1/5
Retirement Facts:
Premiere date: 9-08-06
First appearance: 9-08-06
Debut date: 9-10-06
Consecutive run? No
Peak position: 5 (1 day)
Lowest position in top 10: 10 (1 day)
Debut position: 9
Most of its days were at: 8 (14 days)
Where the video was on the countdown since debut: x,x,9; x,7,x; x,6,8; x,5,8; 9,10,x; 7,8,8; 9,x,8; x,x,9; x,8,x; 9,7,7; 6,8,9; 6,7,8; 6,8,8; 8,8,7; 6,8,8; 7,6
5. Paris Hilton - "Nothing In This World" 8/-1/1@1
4. AFI - "Love Like Winter" 10/-2/2@1
3. Lily Allen - "LDN" 9/-2/2@1
2. Lillix - "Sweet Temptation" 4/+1/1@1
1. +44 - "When Your Heart Stops Beating" 11/+4/2@1
Premiere: Girls Aloud - "Something Kinda Ooh"
Whatever "kinda ooh" means. Anyways, I waited for Disturbed's retirement so I can let other videos I like get a chance to retire. Not so that I could let Girls Aloud tear up the countdown so soon. This video has some things in common with Danity Kane's video "Show Stopper." Five beautiful girls driving cars and dancing. That's pretty much what the girls in Girls Aloud do in this video. I have a reason to keep this video on my countdown. Girls Aloud have had two retired videos already on my countdown. The most recent one being "The Show." I'm not sure if this video could beat "The Show" performance wise because the top six is clogged up with videos that have hit the number one spot. If you want to see it on my countdown, you'd better vote for it.
Number ones from the past on this date:
2004: NO COUNTDOWN until October 28, 2004.
2003: Blink 182 - "Feeling This" (Third day at #1, 5 days on countdown.)
2002: Madonna - "Die Another Day" (Thrid day at #1, 8 days on countdown.)

10-26-06 Five year anniversary
Johnny and Eddie, your votes will count for the 29th's countdown, as I'm behind about a week right now. Today, my countdown turns five years old. As a bonus, I'll post my very first countdown here with some comments. Here is the countdown for October 26, 2006.
Close calls:
13. Weird Al Yankovic - "White and Nerdy" 15/R/7
12. The Killers - "When You Were Young" 18/R/7
11. The All-American Rejects - "It Ends Tonight" 6/R/7
10. Evanescence - "Call Me When You're Sober" 31/+1/4 (Retires in four days.)
9. Gnarls Barkley
8. Hilary Duff - "Play With Fire" 14/+2/6
7. Korn - "Politics" 12/+2/4
6. Pink - "U & UR Hand 10/+1/1@1
5. Paris Hilton - "Nothing In This World" 9/=/1@1
4. +44 - "When Your Heart Stops Beating" 12/-3/2@1
3. Lillix - "Sweet Temptation" 5/-1/1@1
2. AFI - "Love Like Winter" 11/+2/2@1
1. Lily Allen - "LDN" 10/+2/3@1
Number ones from the past on this date:
2004: NO COUNTDOWN until October 28, 2004.
2003: The Chemical Brothers - "The Golden Path" (Seventh day at #1, 33 days on countdown.)
2002: The Distillers - "City of Angels" (Fifth day at #1, 13 days on countdown.)
2001: Linkin Park - "In The End" (First day at #1 and on countdown. This video set standards for how well a good video should do on my countdown.)
Here is the countdown for October 26, 2001.
13. Missy Elliott - "One Minute Man" (How come it's the debut singles from her albums that I remember, not the follow-up singles? "Work It" and "Pass The Dutch" are prime examples.)
12. Ozzy Osbourne - "Gets Me Through" (I don't remember the video here, but a video of his retired on my countdown some time later.)
11. Tamia - "Stranger In My House" (I had the dance remix in mind when I did this countdown, not the downtempo original.)
10. Pink - "Get The Party Started" (She's on my countdown in 2006.)
9. System of a Down - "Chop Suey!" (First of several System of a Down videos to debut on my countdown.)
8. Bubba Sparxxx - "Ugly" (That's what I think it is. I didn't write any clues to the song title.)
7. Gigi D'Agostino - "I'll Fly With You" (The token electronic song.)
6. P.O.D. - "Alive" (How long can a car crash last? And how did the driver survive the crash with the bus without any apparent injuries? This is my favorite P.O.D. video to make my countdown.)
5. Afroman - "Because I Got High" (This is what happens when Afroman smokes the 'erb.)
4. Sum 41 - "In Too Deep" (The video with Sum 41 competing against a diving team.)
3. Dream - "In My Dreams" (IMD gets replaced by "When I Get There." WIGT retires, IMD returns and stays on to retire.)
2. Christina Milian - "AM to PM" (I liked this song for the 303 sound-alike instrument that plays during the bridge. The costumes that Christina wears in the video are quite flashy. Prime examples of club fashion.)
1. Linkin Park - "In The End" (Where is Linkin Park now? They released Meteora, and then Mike Shinoda went off to do Fort Minor. By the way, this video was a work of art.)

10-30-06 Upside Down Day and Evanescence Retirement Special
In addition to my regular countdown, I'll include the upside down countdown, which doesn't count toward retirement. The videos on top of the upside down countdown usually would be close call fodder. A bunch of these are getting replaced soon in the 36th wave anyway with new videos. Also, I retire Evanescence's video "Call Me When You're Sober" today. Here is the countdown for October 30, 2006.
Close calls:
13. Girls Aloud - "Something Kinda Ooh" 0/R/11
12. Gnarls Barkley - "Crazy" 17/+1/7
11. Lady Sovereign - "Love Me or Hate Me" 10/R/6

9. Weird Al Yankovic - "White and Nerdy" 18/-1/7
8. Korn - "Politics" 16/+1/4
7. Pink - "U & UR Hand 14/-1/1@1
And now the retirement of the fourth? video from Evanescence to make it to day 35. "Call Me When You're Sober" is retired video number 257 since my countdown began and the ninth retired video of 2006. It retires with 75 IC points, better than their last two videos that retired, but a far cry from their debut video at 276 IC points.

6. Aly & AJ - "Chemicals React" 2/?/8 (This shall stay on too since I haven't gotten tired of them.)
5. Danity Kane - "Show Stopper" 3/-5/7 (This shall stay on, but don't expect it to get to the top ten naturally.)
4. Jessica Simpson - "A Public Affair" 2/?/10 (This gets removed since I don't like "I Belong To Me.")

Premiere: My Chemical Romance - "Welcome to the Black Parade"
I had this video planned to premiere on Halloween in time for Evanescence to retire. But it turned out that Evanescence retired a day early. This video is in black-and-white for the most part. At the start, a male patient lies in a hospital bed watching a black-and-white television on which My Chemical Romance is performing. When the song speeds up, the patient is transported to the black-and-white post-apocalyptic world on the television set. The boys of MCR wear intricately designed black-and-white marching band costumes and perform on a parade float. Anyway, I expect this video to at least crack the top five during it's run, if not reach number one.
Number ones from the past on this date:
2004: The Prodigy - "Girls" (Seventeenth day at #1, 24 days on countdown.)
2003: NO COUNTDOWN until November 26, 2003.
2002: Queens of the Stone Age - "No One Knows" (First day at #1, 19 days on countdown.)
2001: Linkin Park - "In The End" (Third day at #1, 4 days on countdown.)

11-1-06 Last day of Wave 35
Thanks to Randy for voting. Today is the last day of Wave 35, and I finally got caught up on November 5, 2006. The first day of Wave 36 will begin either on the 5th or the 6th. I don't know yet. Here is the countdown for November 1, 2006.
Close calls:
13. Weird Al Yankovic - "White and Nerdy" 18/-2/7
12. Justin Timberlake - "Sexyback" 4/R/10
11. Aly & AJ - "Chemicals React" 2/+1/8
10. Lady Sovereign - "Love Me or Hate Me" 11/R/6 (Top ten return.)
9. The Killers - "When You Were Young" 21/R/7 (Top ten return.)
8. Pink - "U & UR Hand 16/-1/1@1
7. My Chemical Romance - "Welcome to the Black Parade" 1/D/7 (Top ten debut!)
6. Korn - "Politics" 18/=/4
5. Paris Hilton - "Nothing In This World" 14/-4/2@1
4. Lillix - "Sweet Temptation" 11/-2/3@1
3. AFI - "Love Like Winter" 17/=/3@1
2. Lily Allen - "LDN" 16/+2/3@1
1. +44 - "When Your Heart Stops Beating" 18/+4/4@1
Premiere: Fergie - "Fergalicious"
I'm premiering this to replace "London Bridge." Since my countdown is cluttered as it is, I don't have much room for Fergie. But I guess she'll debut sometime. This video is weird in a Gwen Stefani kind of way.
Premiere: Justin Timberlake - "My Love"
Just keeping up with the times with the latest video from Justin Timberlake. Probably will do worse than "Sexyback" on my countdown, but I don't care. The video is boring, but Justin sings falsetto here. He can sing higher than I can and still sound good.
Premiere: Beyonce - "Irreplaceable"
I got tired of "Ring The Alarm," so I decided to replace it with this video. "Check On It" would have had a fighting chance on my countdown, but my countdown was dead at that point. If you want to see this video on my countdown or any of the other premieres, vote for it.
Number ones from the past on this date:
2004: The Prodigy - "Girls" (Eighteenth day at #1, 25 days on countdown.)
2003: NO COUNTDOWN until November 26, 2003.
2002: The Distillers - "City of Angels" (Ninth day at #1, 19 days on countdown.)
2001: NO COUNTDOWN until November 2, 2001.
