The promotion wasn't that good and that the song was produced by Dr. Luke after she said she'd never work with him... well, as much as I love her, I kinda understand the backlash.
Nicki Minaj :: Right By My Side (feat. Chris Brown)
This song showed a newer side of Onika, and the Chris collab was mildly unexpected and different.
Released as a part of Nicki's three-singles-at-once event, Right By My Side seemed to be
the least popular of the three (including Beez In the Trap and Starships), and its' debut week
on Billboard was its' peak, though it remained mildly consistent through its' chart run.
It was a good song with pretty good promo, so why'd it flop?
Everytime I listen it I really like it. The thing is that right after I'm done with the song, I completely forget the melody. For this moment I don't remember it, I need to listen it. All I remember is that it's really cute. It might be a thing, that it's really forgettable + obviously it was overshadowed by bigger Starships, and somewhere in a way by Beez In the Trap.
RBMS was released to rhythmic and urban radio. At the same time, Starships was released to rhythmic and Beez in the Trap was released to urban. Instead of playing RBMS, radio played the other two instead.
I just listened this song few hours ago and I don't remember it. WTF?! Is it just me, or there's something wrong with that song for real? I remember one line from it, that's it.
Whip It, Automatic, Marylin Monroe didn't even have a chance, shame... They would've never dare to flop.
