Obviously ARTPOP will sell more, and debut at number one. Gaga always pulls in bigger numbers than Rihanna. Rihanna hasn't even had a number one album, no shade.

She already did that in the 2nd week of January 2012 because of the high year-end sales.
So the sales for BTW are actually floating around 7.6-7.7 mil right now because of the tour, so I guess she will reach 8 milion next year most probably because of the hype of the new record coming out early next year.

Mediatraffic stopped counting BTWs sales since week 9 of 2012, but its reports say that it sold around 400k in the first 10 weeks, so that's the reason why I said the album might have sold around 7.6-7.7 mil.

Whenever Rihanna releases a slower song ("Russian Roulette" doesn't count because radio did not play it and it was released way too close to the album's release) her album sales experience a big jump, it expands her audience tremendously...."Unfaithful" turned her from two-hit wonder who couldn't really sell albums to a certified pop star, "Take a Bow" made Good Girl Gone Bad a worldwide blockbuster success.

Gaga is still a huge, huge touring act but she's a bit of a niche artist now. I don't think she realizes this and will still put out something like Marry the Night as the lead single for Artpop and it will really hurt her. I see Unapologetic selling 4-5m worldwide and Artpop 3-4m (with half of that the first week probably).
