I dont get why anyones getting their panties in a bunch. They basically renamed the country songs chart the country airplay chart and then made a chart including sales and airplay and named in the country songs chart

I'm not even talking about Carrie here. Both of her recent (less country) songs are platinum. I'm more talking about male artists. I mean, will male country artists (other then unusual big sellers like Jason Aldean) still get #1s? Will Miranda Lambert still get #1 hits?

The country songs chart should show what the general country audience loves. Pop fans would rather buy Taylor's songs (and Carrie's) then someone like Brad Paisley or Keith Urban for example. Does this mean they have less popular songs? Yes, if you combine their impact all genres they do. Does it automatically mean country fans prefer Taylor's, Carrie's more poppy singles? No it does not.

Hot Country Songs shouldn't take into count radio airplay that's on other formats, in that case Gaga, Britney & Rihanna may as well be charting on the country chart.

I think the problem some have is the rule includes all airplay even outside of country radio. So, why name it a country chart

You can't justify that WANEGBT deserves this #1 spot, it really doesn't and it's a huge kick into the face for the country artists who are being supported by the country audience.

I didn't say the song deserves the number one spot, I said this new rule is fair.

There's STILL a chart for those artists that get Airplay from Country radio only.
But as a ''Country Chart'' there should be more than Air-play counted.

Why not make the Country Digital Songs Chart redundant and just have Hot Country Songs? Clearly airplay is irrelevant these days and barely considered, since WANEGBT basically flopped on country radio and is almost recurrent, and "Red" isn't getting played any significant amount.

It makes sense to include digital sales, but they need to be weighted properly. And how the **** can her airplay on Top 40 stations contribute to her ranking on the country chart? It renders the Billboard chart meaningless.

You do know that they're gonna have to be Country artists to chart on there right?
For example, it would be counted for Carrie when they send BA to Pop.

Which is a good, because Country charts should be based on how successful the song is everywhere, not just Country radio.

Of course. Their singles usually peak at the top 20 of HDS. And how sure are you that country radios really determine what people wanna hear? It's the easiest factor to manipulate. Do you even wonder why some songs are #1 on country yet have very low sales? It just means that radios just play it a lot but people don't want it enough to buy it.

maybe the radio or rather the audience just dont want to hear that song. So the chart should definitely reflects that.
