How many times has the music been good and the critics review it poorly? It always happens. If the general public like the song, then it will do well. End of story. Music critics are so irrelevant and don't know what they're talking about.
But this song and video are still huge disappointments. They're everything I hoped she wouldn't do. And just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, she comes out dressed as Marilyn Monroe.
I just do NOT understand why she's bothering with the Marilyn Monroe homages again.

There's nothing wrong with that per se: She's done frivolous bubble-gum pop before, and while the timing for a song like this might be perfect for pop radio (with boosters Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. tacked on for added marketability, natch), it feels shockingly…reductive.
I actually agree with this... I think she added Nicki + MIA just because they are relevant and pop radio friendly, not that the song really needed them.
I'm glad the reviews are telling the truth and not praising her for the sake of her being the biggest female artist ever.
She'll stay a legend, but she can't just go out and release a song and video like this. If she continues to do so, people will remind her for the wrong things.
I hope this might open up her eyes a bit.
I love Madonna but this is so not her. It's horrible and she's miles better than this.It just seems wrong on many levels.I'm sure there are better songs on album,Masterpiece sounds very good.
Seriously how can anyone defend this song? It's horrible. This is coming from the same woman who gave us like a prayer, ray of light, vogue, hung up, sorry, and frozen. If any other pop star came out with this song everyone would be talking so much **** as would I. If Gaga came out with something like that after TFM and BTW I would probably stop being a fan. This really isn't acceptable, and no you can not make the excuse that she's done everything before so now she can put out whatever crap she wants. She should be working on things that move us forward not making music that brings us back to 2005. Also yes this does hurt her legacy, if this is her last album this is what people in this generation will remember. Also no I'm not being a pressed fan I have love Madonna all of my life my mother listened to it all of the time and confessions was one of my favorite albums of all time and if this song was actually good I would be stanning so hard for this bitch but it's not and I am very unimpressed and so is everyone else. I made my mom listen to it (a hardcore Madonna fan since the 80's) she cringed. I've made a lot of my friends who enjoy pop music and aren't really fans of any particular artist listen and they all had the same reaction. Face it this song is just horrible and it's even worse coming from ****ing Madonna. I really hope the rest of the album is better because if not she really should just retire.
Now BRB I'm going to go dance to vogue and mourn the amazing artist we once had.
In my honest opinion, it sounds like something she recorded in the late 80s/early 90s (because her voice did still sound kinda youngish). But that doesnt really matter to me. I still love it. It's cute and catchy.
