In my opinion, if God really was all powerful and merciful and all that, he would not let people die unhappy.

He wouldn't let bad things happen to people.

And if it's just a person making another person miserable, why not give the tormentor some reason? A conscience?

"Free will"? Why, though? Why allow such horrid things to happen?

And then, Jesus dies for our sins, yet the last book of the bible... Says that Jesus would return just to punish sinners.

Call me ignorant, I don't get it, I really don't think it makes much sense.

I honestly have had a lot of **** happen in my life, and it made me... agnostic. I'm not sticking claim to atheism, nor theism, because I really don't know what to believe anymore.

I think people believe in God because they simply cannot answer the question "Who created the Universe?". In the present, this question is "impossible" to answer although in the future, with more advanced technology we might be able to figure it out. People want to believe in this superb being as the one who created the universe - to answer their questions about the ultimate question.

People can't live with the unknown. It scares them. They need answers. They need to know where they came from, and where they'll go when they die. God is the easy, comforting answer. His light shines through the blackness of not knowing.

That's what is happening to me right now. I don't believe in religions but I've always believed in God. Now, I just don't know if he's really there or maybe he actually is there but just for a few people.

Scientifically it is a chain reaction started when enough energy was concentrated to trigger the process so no we are not at that stage anymore. That's not the reason why people believe in God. Don't reduce us to that, it is a little disrespectful. I totally respect people who don't believe and I don't need to justify it.

I know it is not mine, my dad is an atheist and he gave me all reason to doubt the existence of a higher power. Until I found the answer myself, became a scientist. For me there is no way to be a scientist and to doubt God's existence. It is just that obvious for me.

Like Einstein said the most he watches the universe and the most discoveries he did, he became an evidence for him that God is there. That is how i feel, it has nothing to do with some unanswered question.

No one has any proof that God exists. It's all personal opinion.
