Well I'm having trouble trying to find my list I wrote out Thank God, I the time was extended. In the meantime, while I am searching for it, more comments on the latest update
Judas, Titanium, TTWE, Born This Way, Countdown, Monster, Paradise, Skyscraper, ****** in Paris, Life on the Nickel, Talk That Talk, and a whole lot more!
Of course any album of Britney's will rank high from me. This album was really pure-dance floor fire and a missed opportunity. Unfortunately, due to her disgusting team, this album won't really see it's huge potential. While the album has the dance floor hits ("Till The World Ends", "I Wanna Go", "Big Fat Bass", "Trouble For Me"), it also had some new territory for Britney that could have given her a more evolving image ("Criminal", "He About To Lose Me", "Hold It Against Me", "How I Roll"). Oh well, at least I have the music. Can't wait for album eight!
Songs:
20. Lady Gaga - "The Edge of Glory"
This song is among Gaga's best. It really is beautiful. The song really evokes so much emotion and she couldn't have released at a better time in my life. It contains the typical Gaga beat and electronic elements to it, but the saxophone breakdown is so refreshing. Gaga continues to innovate the pop scene every day, especially with this song.
19. Avril - "Darlin"
Another underrated gem on Avril's underrated album. Once again, Avril continues to her more acoustic, raw album with Darlin'. Avril says that she wrote this song when she was around 15 and I must say that I wish I could have the talent to write such a beautiful song such as this. The chorus alone gives me life.
18. Cobra Starship - "Disaster Boy"
This is definitely a different song for Cobra Starship. It is more serious and personal compared the songs on their first three albums, but it is also the first that keytarist Victoria Asher (also known to fans of the band as Vicky T), has the lead vocals in a song. Now Vicky-T has sang in several other songs before and has even sang Leighton's part live in Good Girls Go Bad (if only she could fill in Sabi). It was really nice to hear Vicky T sang and the emotion her, Gabe, and the rest of the band put into it was very nice.
17. Adele - "He Won't Go"
This song was one of my early favorites from '21'. I really like the multi-genres of it. It's adult contemporary mixed with an acoustic feel and a hint of Jazz. Unfortunately, it seems that Adele isn't releasing any more songs from '21' because this would be a good single choice in my opinion.
16. Cobra Starship - "#1Nite"
This is very commercial and generic compared to Cobra Starship's other discography. I couldn't help but fall in love with it though. This really should have been the second single. It instantaneously became one of my summer anthems.
15. Armin Van Buuren - "Youtopia" (feat. Adam Young)
The same day I discovered Skrillex in Hot Topic, I also discovered this gem. I must say that this song fits perfectly for the winter. The cool, laid back vibe fits as I look out a window as it's snowing or when I go skiing. So because of all the gems I discover in Hot Topic, I now know where to go when I am in need of some new music.
14. Lady Gaga - "Heavy Metal Lover"
How can you not love this laid back quirky electro-sex masterpiece. The song is so weird that it instantly appeals to me. It's like Lady Gaga's own "Freakshow". The ooh's in the chorus constantly give me life. *runs and plays it on iPod*
13. Rihanna - "We Found Love" (feat. Calvin Harris)
This is definitely one of Rihanna's best singles that she has ever released. And clearly, the charts have proven that. What's even more amazing is that it still stands out on 'Talk That Talk' and hasn't gotten old for me yet.
12. Britney Spears - "He About To Lose Me"
AHH! We get to hear Britney's real voice in the verses. If only we could hear that more. And if only this could be a single. And if only she performed her whole tour. And if only she made more songs with this emotion in it. Le sigh.
11. Lady Gaga - "Hair"
The third Gaga song in this set! This song should be a single. I know the lyrics are cheesy as hell, but I can't help it. This song is addicting! Plus the robotic hair stutter after the chorus is
Music Videos:
2. Britney Spears - "Hold It Against Me"
This video is severely underrated. I liked seeing Britney doing an artsy/creative video. Too bad the fans don't want this from her and would rather just watch a video of her having sex to a song. Sigh.
Of course, I was about to **** my pants when I finally had the confirmation that my favorite band Cobra Starship was releasing a new album. This album didn't disappoint. Sure, it's their most commercial and most commercial yet, but it's refreshing to have music evolve. It still had the same fun Cobra Starship mixed with more serious music. A refreshing combination. Highlights are "Anything for Love", "****ed in Love", "Disaster Boy", "Fool Like Me", and "Don't Blame The World, It's The DJ's Fault".
TOP TEN SONGS
10. Lady Gaga - "Judas"
I am so disappointed that this song underperformed. It didn't deserve to. It's one of Gaga's best singles. What's funny is how critics thought it was religiously offensive, when it served as a promotion metaphor to Christianity. Gaga really stepped lyrically with the concept and lyrics of this song. Kudos Gaga.
9.Tie: Cobra Starship - "****ed In Love" and Rihanna - "Drunk On Love"
Both have to do with love and they are both similar in the emotional vibe they give off to me. "****ed In Love" is definitely one of Cobra Starship's most personal songs and it's really down to earth from everything to the beat and the lyrics. "Drunk On Love" is definitely the best song (besides "We Found Love") on 'Talk That Talk'.
8. Avril Lavigne - "4 Real"
I really like this song. The vocal melody is hypnotizing and it's just so stripped down. This is my favorite Avril song ever. I hope she doesn't completely abandon this sound in her future albums.
7. Britney Spears - "Criminal"
While it was great to hear all the dance floor thumpers on Femme Fatale, the midtempos were just as welcomed. I love the lyrics to the song and I am so disappointed at how poorly the song did. Another reflection of how Britney's teams are Criminals for ruining this gem of having commercial success. Oh well, it still remains a hit for me on the album.
6. Coldplay - "Princess of China" (feat. Rihanna)
This song instantaneously mesmerized me when I first heard it. It's so melodic in every part of the song that just makes want to hear the song over and over again. I'm surprised with how well Rihanna and Coldplay go together. I can't wait for this song to smash.
5. Beyonce - "Countdown"
This song still hasn't gotten old for me. Another song that deserved to be a huge hit. I don't understand why it wasn't. Sure it's not like an LMFAO track, but it's still radio friendly. *sigh* The part that gives me life will always be: "Oh, killing me softly and I'm still balling".
4. Lady Gaga - "Bloody Mary"
Definitely one of Gaga's most darkest songs, but I like it that. The chorus is one of her strongest, the lyrics are some of her strongest, and the Gaga chants in the bridge is genius. I know the chances of this being a single are slim, but I at least need a performance or a video for it. Or both.
3. Cobra Starship - "Anything For Love"
On the flip side from "Bloody Mary", there is "Anything For Love" which is a bittersweet, but cheerful summery song. To me, this is one of Cobra Starship's best songs lyrically. It has the potential to be a hit and it's different from all the other songs on the radio and other Cobra songs. The 80's vibe really helps with the song. The bridge also sends me to heaven.
2. Foster The People - "Pumped Up Kicks"
I remember hearing this for the first time on the radio back in July and being surprised that a song like this was so popular. I really love this song. Songs about guns seem to interest me () and Rihanna seemed to be the only one giving me my fix. Luckily this gem smashed my summer. This was definitely my official summer anthem.
1. Britney Spears - "Hold It Against Me"
The return of Britney Spears! After a tortured anticipation, we got this masterpiece. The chorus remains one of Britney's best choruses ever. The dubstep breakdown made the song refreshing and it's such a shame how it didn't smash like "3", "Womanizer", or "Till The World Ends". Either way, this is definitely a Britney classic already and remains one of the best songs on Femme Fatale.
THE NUMBER ONE MUSIC VIDEO:
1. Rihanna - "We Found Love"
I was so happy that Rihanna started making good videos again after all of the disappointed ones from the Loud era. The fast pace of this video was great and the mix of fun and serious tone to the video made it diverse and stand out. Rihanna's best video, hands down. And the video of the year, hands down. This better not get snubbed at the VMA's.
