Do people even understand what the article is praising? It's praising her ability to STAY COMMITTED TO A CHARACTER, not necessarily her performance of You and I. She was able to truly devote being to a man throughout the show without faltering. That's what critics are praising.

We all know a typical Gaga performance consists of her, a troop of dancers, and whatever's in Cirque Du Soleil's storage shed. This just proves that the VMAs are more about shock value and memorable moments rather than being a respectable awards show. It's a shame that award shows have gone from performers putting their talents in visual form to who can be the most outrageous attention *****.
