There have already been multiple accounts of people buying the album because the 1 dollar sale was too good to pass up. Look no further then the reviews on Amazon's own site and twitter to see people exclaiming how they weren't going to buy the album until they saw how affordable the price was. To deny it's effect is ridiculous. HDD mentioned it in their article and iTunes threatened to stop promotion on their site because of Amazon's deal. Obviously it was a big factor that rippled across the business market. To deny it's impact would be a fruitless activity. That is not to say 90% of sales came from Amazon but it likely did cause an effect that was noticed by both HDD and iTunes.
HDD has upped their prediction to 900k: "Our latest guesstimate puts the number in the neighborhood of 900k."

no one is jealous but honestly the numbers are kind of tainted when the album is sold for 1 dollar.

Well I am impressed! Even with the 0.99 $ the standard edition was at number 2 with the offer the whole damn day in the amazon charts... So guess what!?!?!? They were still buying the bonus track edition MORE THAN ANYTHING which was expensive!
