The thing is, I think she has good points sometimes and stands for some good things, but this is an example of her picking a fight where there isn't one. There was absolutely no reason for her to get defensive and have this meltdown.
She completely missed the point of what Meryl said.

Where did Meryl ever hint that actors are more hard working than other people? She literally said in her speech that it is a privilege to get to act for a living. It's not like this was like what Gwyneth Paltrow said a few years ago.
But if she wants to go there....actors and actresses like Meryl might be doing great with a lot of blessings at this point in their lives, but they had a very hard way to get where they are now. They pursued a path that is very iffy and not secure, and worked their asses off to get where they are now.
