yeah, but these hedonistic behaviors are usually escapist tendencies that are rooted in depression
people always try to argue that gays can have everything straight people have, and maybe that's true for things like jobs, but when you are born into world where everything is overtly hetero-normative, you spend all of your youth feeling "different"
you feel like something's wrong with you, then you get shunned by the rest of society
(bullying, religious taboo, parental abuse)
for many people, being gay is something that they're afraid to even admit to others or themselves
we normalize "coming out" as gay, when the fact that anyone even feels the need to be in a closet in the first place speaks volumes about the way we look at homosexuality
a lot of gays spend their years in school just watching and lusting after other boys knowing that they could never been with them while also seeing all these straight people kissing in public or in movies and hearing all these love songs about men being with women
gays come into the world feeling like outsiders and freaks,
it's no surprise that they start doing drugs and partying their lives away when they come of age
it's certainly something that needs to be talked about,
but we have to understand where it's rooted if we're going to do that in a healthy way
