WOO my apologies for a late update - been a pretty busy week. I think I may have time for an update tomorrow as well, but after that I'll be out of town all weekend.
I'll be getting caught up on your guys's Best Ofs after I update tonight!
Here are the replies

I forgot you're a Dexy's stan.
I didn't listen to any of your E picks
Yeah I guess I don't think about it too much when I listen to the song... even though the title is a bit of a giveaway. I guess I kinda equate it to like... olden times? Idk.
Yas to Dexys, though it was just a cover album, was quite good! Of the E's - you HAVE to check out Emily King. I really think you'd love her album (The Switch). Emeli you prob wouldn't care for, Eli Paperboy Reed would go either way for ya.

Charli XCX:
Wasn't a big fan of the EP like most of ATRL was but Vroom Vroom slays, Secret (Shh) is cute and After the Afterparty is a great bop.
DNCE:
Their EP was great and the album was even better Nearly the whole tracklist was filled with bops. DNCE, Cake By the Ocean, Naked Blown + Good Day slay as well.
Drake:
I haven't used him in years (for the most part) but One Dance and Too Good are nice.
Well I'm happy that we have an ALMOST exact top 4 for Side B. DNCE I do wish I enjoyed more, but actually Blown was one I liked & forgot!

I don't have much to say about Drake/Views but One Dance was still song of summer 2016 for me.
Hahaha yeaaahhh kinda same for me with that EP, but I do spin Feel Like I Do quite a bit!
The Felice Brothers "She's such a special girl, she's been around the world."
Song: Aerosol Ball by The Felice Brothers
Why: This was a nice Americana/folksy album! It has some cute humor to it and the lively instrumentals really brighten my mood when I listen to this.
This song in particular - I really think the line with the "x eating y, and z eating y, etc" is very silly. Check this song & album out if you haven't yet!
I also enjoyed:
Plunder - This was a very close #2 - super fun
Life in the Dark
Sally!
I didn't care for:
N/A
Fitz and the Tantrums "Feel no conviction, grapes of wrath can only sweeten your wine."
Song: HandClap by Fitz and the Tantrums
Why: Ehhhh.... ehh... eh. I have a lot of mixed thoughts on these guys. Their debut album was pretty rockin! Their second was more pop & mixed in genre influence, and then this album is really really like... shiny bright pop and it doesn't really work for them.
I think a lot of people probably hate this song now because it's like a song that will never die - probably always played in dept stores, in commercials, kid's movie trailers, etc. But I think it's actually one of the better ones on the album because it doesn't really care that it's loud & obnoxious & fun - it goes for it! Some loud brass instruments, sure? More clapping, yeah!
I also enjoyed:
Roll Up
Run It
Complicated - A bit more like their previous stuff
I didn't care for:
Fadeback - I really didn't like this one
Tricky
Florence and the Machine "Cause I'm retreating in covers and closing the curtains."
Song: Too Much is Never Enough by Florence and the Machine
Why: Another cute EP that I only reaaaallly cared for the one song on. It's kind of a "return to form" song that plays more to their Lungs/Ceremonial days with the airy harp & heavy drums. The chorus is cute!
Flume "Taking your time, work my mind, and I play with you - I play pretend it's so true."
Song: Say It (feat. Tove Lo) by Flume
Why: This was a nice album from Flume. His debut was a bit meh and I honestly don't remember listening to it more than once, but this one had some nice tracks! Also all the album art stuff has been pretty
What I like the most about Say It is that it's a very proper collaboration - Tove's rough voice, sing-song verses, and sexual lyrics merge quite well with Flume's build ups, drops, and just overall electronic production. It's a cool song!
I also enjoyed:
Never Be Like You (feat. Kai)
Like Water (feat. MNDR)
Take a Chance (feat. Little Dragon)
I didn't care for:
N/A
Foxes "All I do is pray and it's keeping me away - when I try to leave, I think that "you need me"... do you?"
Song: Cruel by Foxes
Why: I really, really love this album. It's definitely tied for my favorite pop release of the year with another musician in the "S" encyclopedia. While her debut had some basic & "trend hopping" aspects to it, I think this album really took a step back and just let pop music be pop music, and Loui really let her voice carry out. The melodies & hooks & choruses & everything are so good!
The main reason why I went with Cruel is because I didn't care tooooo much for it when the album came out, but it GREW on me. It's a perfect pop song! My favorite part is the "all I do is pray" like, especially at the end where she really hangs onto the "awayyyy" line. I'm disappointed that she's so underrated
I also enjoyed:
Money - Cheesy overall, but super fun & the kids choir makes the song magic
Scar - Also took a while to grow on me, but a great chorus
The songs from last year (Amazing/Body Talk/If You Leave Me Now)
I didn't care for:
All I Need - The only song from the album I actually dislike. The "cause you're all I need" in Amazing was enough of a title track from the album. At least it's a deluxe song!
Francis and the Lights "Did you lie for a come up? Was your meaning obscured? Did you die for a reason?"
Song: I Want You to Shake by Francis and the Lights
Why: Francis was a great find this year! His album's great, and I wasn't reeeeally sure what to expect since he seemed like a Bon Iver 2.0 (which I was like oh God) but his album's real nice!
Ooooooo and this song, oof that funky jam. I guess it kinda follows a narrative from the previous song with he and his lover rekindling their romance after the party. It really is the production that stands out for me. He wants me to shake? Well this song got me GROOVIN hardcore!
I also enjoyed:
It's Alright to Cry - This song makes me feel so nostalgic for some reason & actually makes me want to cry. I think maybe because it reminds me of this video game song that has a lot of memories for me
Comeback
May I Have this Dance
I didn't care for:
N/A
Frank Ocean "I thought that I was dreaming when you said you loved me."
Song: Ivy by Frank Ocean
Why: Yeah Frank's annoying AF so you get this ukulele cover video instead.
Generally disappointing album compared to the previous one, but I did really enjoy some songs! The songs I didn't enjoy I completely forgot. Not sure why I like this one the most, it's just very pretty!
I also enjoyed:
Pink + White
Self Control
White Ferrari
Be Yourself - lol idk why this lil intro stuck with me. Reminds me of rap interludes
I didn't care for:
N/A - But I pretty much don't remember the rest of the album
And that's it for the F's! Not sure if I missed anyone, but let me know, as always
Yesssssss as I was scrolling down I was hoping Foxes was here Pretty sure she's the only F artist I paid attention to in 2016.
YESSSSSSSS at Cruel and Money in your standouts True the pre-release songs were all amazing choices (except Feet Don't Fail Me Now, but even that one is still great.) Totally agree that the title track is the weakest link but it's still cute, it's just somewhat boring and uneventful, plus the production is kinda weird because the beginning always sounds LQ to me.
Florence's EP was pleasant. I like IVY but not necessarily my fave from Blonde. I think I deleted Be Yourself after the 2nd listen cuz it wasn't needed for me anymore
Flume's album was just okay to me. Say It was an obvious standout. I heard a few Francis songs but I never got around to listening to his album in full.
I BE BACK from Disneyland lmao now it's time for an update & to be caught up with other Best Ofs! Might do two letters today but idk we'll see.
R-R-R-R-R-R-REPLIES YO

YAY I knew you'd be appreciative of the Foxes love too
Yeah idk there's a lot that I don't enjoy with AIN the song but I simply cannot bring myself to delete it!

Yeah agreed with Flo - I do quite like that song! I think most still prefer Glorious, but AIN it just some sort of pop greatness for me!

LOL Idk why I even care for Be Yourself Oh well!
Honestly, mostly agreed with Flume, but I did enjoy it quite a bit when it came out. You should totally check out his full album! I think it's definitely up your alley.

Florence and the Machine - Had no idea about this EP lol
Lowkey surprised you only just heard HandClap The EP's cute, I only really cared for that 1 song tho.
Gallant "Cause I loved in cold blood and got used to it, angels say trust the detox, but I'm shaking I need it like bourbon in my coffee cup."
Song: Bourbon by Gallant
Why: Oh my GOSH this is for sure one of my favorite albums/debuts of the year. His voice really takes me on such a higher plane & I think the production on most of the songs is really complimentary to his singing. I think some people have criticisms on a bit of oversinging on some songs, which I agree a bit with, but not too much!
This song is a bit self-explanatory why I like it - it's just so pretty & such a nice listen! And who doesn't love a bit of bourbon in their coffee cup?
I also enjoyed:
Weight in Gold - OOOOO BABY
Talking to Myself - I feel like this is the song that has been getting the most attention from the album?
Episode
Bone + Tissue
Open Up
I didn't care for:
N/A
Garbage "I've been feeling so frustrated, I'll never be as great as I want to be."
Song: Empty by Garbage
Why: Nice of Garbage to keep releasing music! I don't think they'll ever top their debut or Only Happy When It Rains, but this year's album was nice! Was hard for me to listen to it again since it's so moody but it's nice!
I like the lyricism of Empty & it's a great song.
I also enjoyed:
N/A
I didn't care for:
N/A
Glass Animals "I want you to be happy, free to run, get dizzy on caffeine."
Song: Youth by Glass Animals
Why: I quite enjoyed this more than their previous album! I love love love Gooey, but wasn't as captivated with the rest of the album. Plus this album cover is silly
Youth is such a cute song about the fun, happiness, nostalgia, etc. that goes into Youth & it's not cheesy to me! The production on the chorus is so fun.
I also enjoyed:
Agnes - Kinda surprised that this one isn't a single (yet)
Season 2 Episode 3 - That Animal Crossing K.K. slider song/arcade instrumental is BLISS
Pork Soda - Makes me giggle - kinda remind me of Outkast too?
I didn't care for:
N/A - N/A
Gold Panda
Song: Chiba Nights by Gold Panda
Why: I think this was the only instrumental-only album I listened to this year and I quite enjoyed it! I think Chiba Nights is my favorite because it's the most groovy.
I also enjoyed:
In My Car - Very... hip-hop production in a way?
Pink and Gold
I am Real Punk - Perf song title
Your Good Times are Just Beginning
I didn't care for:
Time Eater - I could make a pun with this one but I shouldn't.
