Several prominent analysts came forward after the election and said there were contradicting evidence in counties with electronic voting machines versus those that use paper ballots. Because of this evidence, the recount was suggested and promptly put into action. If the recount (and audit in Wisconsin) can find that there was some tampering with voting machines
which can be done to offline machines as easily as sticking a data card into the machine then states can flip which means the electoral college members in those states would need to flip.
If one state does end up flipping, it'll put into question the integrity of the entire voting process and could lead to more electoral college members flipping and recounts in other states such as North Carolina and Florida.
