It builds hype and builds up the Audience Impressions. If you're familiar with the Billboard formula, then you would know that the Audience Impressions (AI) play a huge role in the formula and charting of a single. If the song is released to radio and made available for download at the same time, we may be looking at a difference between a Top 3 or 5 hit from a #1 hit. Britney's sales will be high that's a given, but we need the Audience Impressions to be at least 30 million before we attempt to release the song for downloading on iTunes, Rhapsody, Amazon, etc. Especially if the song doesn't have a cross-format appeal. She'll smash POP radio, but what else? Britney can easily get 25 million in one week from mostly Pop radio alone that's why I say a week minimum.
The facebook/social networking marketing plan is a great idea, but only for a separate release. Don't do the simultaneous release of radio and downloads at the same time, that hurts the longevity of the single. WE ARE HERE FOR THAT!

Things can change. Im here for the new, modern methods record labels will be using to sell singles in this dying age of music. Labels care about sales not radio-play. Of course radio play = to sales, but if they can do it without it radio play by using more modern methods such as interweb usage, and increase sales by that, then we're looking at an increase in the revenue music brings in for record labels

I guess but I'm tired of things changing at Britney's expense (i.e. Blackout #2). Britney is such a trendsetter - but I'm tired of her starting these trends and never getting the credit for it - it's time for Britney to get her due and get something major going again. It just seems like she's always being robbed.

By the way I am in love with the Facebook Promo!!! Which would make tons of people know about the single and rush to buy it !!! Means Huge Sale week!!! no need the Airplay to be a big hit from day 1,Airplay then help the Longevity!!!

A guy on BH who posted the correct lyrics back in December and the If I'm coming too strong line a day before Luke has said the 'Liberated' rumour is false. Few!

THIS!
2 Million people know that the single has just been released to itunes, the large majority of them will buy the single from itunes giving it huge first weeks, then when airplay picks up (which I imagine it would do fast) more people will then buy it, giving it longevity in the charts too. I think its a fantastic idea. It might not work, but she's trying new things and taking risks, isnt that what legends are supposed to do? Giver her credit where its due gurls

YES. The Facebook idea is AMAZING. Once all those people start posting Britney's single information across their walls the word will spread like WILDFIRE. It will show up in TONS of Feeds. Assuming that the average Facebook account has 250 friends - 250 x 2,000,000 = 500,000,000 (which is actually Facebook's population).

Wow! Considering how many people the news will reach, this is a genius idea. Brit news spreads like wildfire anyway, so with this, she'll be burnin' down entire villages and forests.

You let song get some airplay exposure and build up the Audience Impressions after a week or two, THEN you release it to iTunes for the sales. WTH is JIVE doing? They are not looking at longevity or the bigger picture here. Who do I need to write to in order to stop this madness?

No, they're not. All the eras have been handled well. Blackout had that whole secretive thing going on but it worked out fine. Circus was flawless on releases and The Singles Collection was as well. they wouldn't be this dumb. maybe the reason why we haven't got an announcement is because there is a chance that the single is premiering at the end of the month. Jive just does a one week before press release. there's no point to do one right now if the single isn't coming out next week. that's just the way Jive works. it's never failed them. they won't change their ways for this era.

Releasing it to radio and iTunes at the same time will ensure that it does have longevity. It's going to start selling strongly on name alone at first, and then once airplay increases that should enable it to maintain its sales. What you're referring to (download suppression) is only good for boosting chart peaks. She's more likely to peak at number one if they delay its digital release for a week or two after its radio première. If they release the song when airplay is already substantial then sales could become more front-loaded, but ultimately the song may not have as much longevity as it could have had.

Most songs are available to download from the get-go nowadays. It didn't damage Bad Romance.

I follow Britney, but I'm not entirely interested in her (I'll admit),
and even I know her manager has a ******** session every 4-5 days.
This is BRITNEY SPEARS. Everyone who's everyone will write anything for you to read.
It's hot. It's now. It's about to drop.
I'm just saying, I wouldn't believe everything you read. The papers love to write about Britney
Especially when I've read back posts and this websites apparently unreliable.
I've come here to read news..
