NY times: Bey Raised the bar, Others are leaping

the same thing happened with ST
the hive is always screaming "impact" and "influence" yet NO ONE released an album with videos for all songs, so where exactly is all that impact?
lemonade is following the same route, they're screaming it changed the current landscape for popular music yet NO ONE has released a film/mini-movie/whatever you wanna call it after it's release
the liberal media/hive are trying so hard to push this "beyonce is influential" agenda but they do not have the actual receipts to back it up. so they're stuck with a whole bunch of nothing and stay just blabbing their way into fooling (ignorant) people of bey's "impact"
save that energy

She marketed it as a film and is selling the ENTIRE piece for close to $20. Coming along after your album is released and deciding to do a few thematic videos here and there is not the same.
But your problem seems to be with the publication, so I should refer you to have this discussion with the author.

Tropico wasn't a random release, so there's really not much of a difference outside of the fact that Lana didn't feature every song from her EP. The article discusses more than a visual album. It incorporates the necessity to move beyond the standard auditory release, and Tropico did just that. No one said Lana had more impact with her release. She obviously didn't, because, as you said, it was a standalone release that was tied to her EP. Lemonade's visual and audio components were sold as one. All I'm saying is that one person isn't responsible for popularizing this trend. You might disagree.

Y'all said she didn't popularize the surprise release or releasing on Fridays, and now look where we are. I would think y'all would get tired of being wrong all the damn time.

fka released a mini-film for her EP, not individual videos for each track
if anything, she's the one who inspired Lemonade, considering beyonce basically remade her idea but in a bigger scale (EP/Album)

Because AS USUAL Kanye is ahead of his time. No one is surprised that it took a good 5 years for people to pick up on the blueprint that HE laid. Hell Hip-Hop/R&B is JUST now catching up to 808s and Heartbreak. Now that's impact. That's how you make the blueprint. Lemonade is a more cohesive story, but dont act like she wasn't inspired by her husbands best friend. It's not your fault though, I blame the author of the article who got y'all gassed up and misinformed.

i was clearly talking about ST not being influential as a visual album, i know she's referenced for that gimmicky release strategy.
I'll restrain myself and i wont respond to that stupid BOOTS name-drop

Beyoncé did a visual album for B'Day in 2007. Beyoncé is a visual artist. Kanye's wasn't impactful at all. So back the article about the BLUEprint Lemonade.

50 Cent did it before Kanye did though. Again, y'all keep coming with this "soandso did it first" but don't know your real history. 50 Cent did a visual story after his album was released, Usher did a mini-movie after Confessions was released, Bey released a video anthology after B'Day was released. So y'all can stop with the Lana's and Ye's, because truth be told, they were going through doors that had already been opened by artists more successful than them. And we could probably even travel back in time a bit further.
Stop being upset that people are recognizing Bey's influence.

You can't mention Kanye and Lana, without mentioning 50, Usher, and Bey. And you can't mention any of them without looking @ MJ's discography. Learn your history and stop hating.

Overpraising and overrating, as usual. And so on and on. Both Beyonce and Lemonade are like the most overrated albums ever. They only had their short-lived impact (more like shock value) in the USA and that's about it.
