Eh. I can understand why some would criticize this quote because co-writers are credited, so it makes her message seem untrue and insincere. However, most co-writers credited are producers. I do believe that her quote was a bit of a hyperbole. However, both sides of the argument in this thread are just ridiculous. GaGa is nothing incredible. She makes good music. She has a good voice. She's a decent-good writer. She's talented. She's not the savior to pop music.
And not all of her performances are memorable. You can't minimize her talent or success or what caused it, but you also cannot amplify those things. It's not right either way.

People who hate Lady Gaga (i.e., Britney Spears fans) keep saying she's changed, she's become too attention-whorish, too arrogant.
The Fame Gaga and the current Gaga are the same.
She wears crazy **** now; she wore lampshades and frogs then.
She sounds arrogant now; she sounded arrogant before TF even came out. She even addressed her arrogance while promoting Just Dance.
She went into random bars, signed autographs, took pictures, sang a song and bought drinks for the whole house before The Fame, and she still does it now. The Legendary Least Likely To Give An Autograph Miss Britney Spears would - and could - never.
Of course she's going to change her look and sound a bit. I know it's hard for Britney fans to understand, since she's stuck to the same naughty-but-nice image for 12 years running now.

well this depends on what you mean by "generic". generic song is a song that sounds like everything else that's popular, correct? well gaga has said many times that the couldn't get it played on the radio at first because it was dance and too different. of course NOW we have Dynamite's and In My Head's

Just Dance was generic, and yet it paved the way for songs like Tik Tok to blow up instantly while it took nearly a year to blow up.

She is the popstar to generate the most hype and accumulate a massive fanbase this fast since Britney Spears and whether you like Britney or not, she is a legend.
Love Gaga or hate her, she isn't going anywhere and her music, videos and tour beg to differ with your opinion.

Lady Gaga has paved the way for the new generation of Pop music and everyone better DEAL with that fact.
Her music is bringing dance beats and faster tempos into the radio air waves.
Pop music used to be bubblegum, teenage, and all about fantasy love.
It's now more relative and completely different than before.
Gaga changed this

Some Britney stans seem personally offended. It is not Gaga's fault that she can take pride in writing her own hits, as well as performing them live...and doing it pretty well. Take your frustrations out on your fave.

no they are not....i prefer The Fame over the Fame Monster. There was was certain purity about The Fame that i could appreciate but the Fame Monster although with some good songs just doesn't compare to the Epicness that was The Fame...I hope her next project isn't some ******** Electro-Pop crap because she has too much talent to put out another album like The Fame Monster

Melody? there you have it
i really like GaGa as an artist.. she has great music great videos and i don't chech her performances that much but i know she is a good performer.. but i don't really like her as a person.. i am not hating by any means and don't try to bring britney into this because i am not saying this as a britney fan and i don't feel offended by anything.. i just wanna express myself about what Lady GaGa said and i think you cannot deny how much she thinks of herself and how huge her ego is

As for the arrogance part, let's not forget who has people refer to her as a legend in her own song.
And finally, I could give two ****s about Britney. Never gave a **** about her before Gaga, don't give a **** about her after Gaga. I have zero interest in her or "depreciating" her success. When her failed stans get out of line, I just put them - and her - in their place.
Children dismissed!

I see you have more in common with lady gaga than people thought...
Thinking you're better than everyone + talking as if...
You don't know nothing of Britney's career so you have nothing to judge, she pretty much put on the map many producers but anyway, since you're not here for her, you're only here to create and spread delusions.

I know what I said. And considering my post and your response, it seems like your response was a bit offbase and irrelevant to anything I said in my post. Because of that is why I asked what you thought my opinion was. js
