I have to cosign on this. I Really Like You is definitely one of the best pop songs this decade. Boy Problems is up there. But this isn't really a drag since Carly's topping everyone IMO, not just Katy.

Carly's pop music isn't soulless pop music that was solely created for the purpose of being the broadest hit possible, relatable to the largest number of people. Carly makes the type of music she wants to make, and writes what she wants to write, Katy makes the type of music she/her label think people want to hear, and writes what they they think people will relate to the most, solely to sell the song.

Atrl doesn't know what pure pop and bubblegum pop is.

Prism isn't "pure pop" it has influences from different genres like house, trap, disco, etc. and there are no bubblegum pop songs with the exception of maybe Roar. Teenage Dream is a different story though.

Atrl thinks every song that isn't about sex or that isn't a boring ballad = bubblegum pop.

Now with the Carly comparisons, I think they aren't similar at all. 1989 has more similarities with Carly's music than Katy's music.

Katy would never release songs like Boy Problems, Your Type, Favorite Colour and Gimmie Love, those are real bubblegum pop songs that a Disney act could sing.
