Same, I always thought it was just a joke but it actually seems true now.
Hopefully she's performing at the AMA's, EMA's, Grammy's and next year's VMA's. I cannot have my fave award shows die like this

This afternoon, MTV focused on the 62.8M video streams the VMAs clocked. The network boasted that tally was up 70% from day-of-show’s 36.8M in 2015.
The 2016 VMAs also drew 45.8 million streams on Facebook, up 938% (4.4M) over the 2015 show.
The 2016 VMAs was the No. 1 most social show of the night, making up 90% of all TV-related social media chatter for the evening.

Rihanna really is the Queen of the new wave of how people intake their music and television, it's ridiculous.

Except Beyonce walked the Red Carpet, so EVERYONE knew she was gonna be there (in fact, she was highly rumoured to begin with) so she's too blame too.

Bey wasn't announced but literally everyone knew she was going to be there. And i was told she was the one to bring in the ratings.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The girls always trying to save face when beyonce isn't winning. watch a report come out to combat this... they'll say the ratings were misreported just like they did the superbowl.

Fun fact: anytime they made Beyonce the biggest star of the night, be it nominations or performances, the ratings plummeted

Fact of the matter is, no one is really to blame. People are simply not as interested in award shows or are watching through other means. Maybe it's time for Nielsen to update how they calculate ratings.

Gaga always on your mind. It's a proven fact that the VMA ratings go up from the previous year when Gaga is in attendance.
When it comes to other award shows, such as the Oscars or even the Grammys, Gaga is not the main draw, nor is she even the point of the show (that is, unless you're implying Gaga is the most important person to attend the Grammys and Oscars). The VMAs, however, are Gaga's territory. Try again!

Now let's keep it real
Navy, Army and Hive don't hide behind streams which increase on an annual basis and are used for shows (awards or others) that show an increase in ratings as well as streams.
In the end our faves just didn't pull in the viewers.
there's no reason why those increase streams couldn't exist with a steady if not increase in viewers on tv as well since people are toting tweets and such.
I think we have to accept: No gaga/katy (superbowl and 2011 vmas) no taylor...
No ratings.
It's hard for me to admit as well because I stan Rihanna and britney but katy, gaga and taylor must bring in the viewers and I JUST REALIZED all of their increases were much higher than Britney,Beyonce and Rihanna too.
It's official: Gaga, katy, taylor or ratings go down

I think it's time to cancel all those unnecessary award shows. Like I can't at there being AMAs, EMAs, VMAs, BMAs, Grammys, BRIT, iHRMAs, BET, TCAs, KCAs, SoulTrain and god knows how many more.
Cancell all but AMAs, VMAs, Grammys and BRIT.
