Well, I think Michelle as Supporting Actress is a lock basically as of now. I would have loved to see her as a Best Actress but an Oscar is an Oscar.
And wtf, Mara is so not boring. I love her acting because she's so subtle in every role she plays, but so detailed and she has this immense talent in giving depth to characters without even trying. I hope she gets nominated again next year!
I'm still a little bit pressed she lost to Vikander last year! She was flawless in Carol.

Me too. She was so much better and was in a so much better movie. I personally think her performance in Carol was better than any of the nominees last year, lead or supporting. (Cate Blanchett was a close second tho.)
I saw The Light Between Oceans and the movie was rather dull, but Alicia Vikander is the best thing in it. She deserves maybe a nomination, but definitely not a win especially with her category fraud win last year.
The Fanning sisters are coming for blood in the future
They are so talented
I just watched The Neon Devil and Elle Fanning was great in it.
Speaking of The Neon Demon, I wonder if it has a shot of getting ANY nominations. It deserves cinematography and original score imo but it'll probably get nothing.
I think so too (and I have a very low tolerance for war films). I'd love to see Andrew in Best Actor (may be a longshot, but I'd love it). His accent in the trailer kinda slays me.
I've seen a bit of speculation that Mel Gibson's anti-semitism may hurt the film's chances.
Reviews are coming in. It's 88% fresh from 8 reviews on RT.

I watched it yesterday the score was one of the best ones in any recent movies I've watched it was so fitting and it slayed me. Too bad they won't give it a chance cuz the movie flopped and got destroyed by critics. The cinematography was flawless too it was visually stunning
I didn't know both sisters had a chance to get nominated
I'm so here for Isabelle Huppert pulling a Marion Cotillard this year and getting a nomination via the passion vote. Seriously doubt it though with the role she has for Elle.
How are you guys so sure see Stewart is on lock to be nominated? Is the movie out? Or premiered at some festival?
She has a few things going for her. The fact that Billy Lynn is a big Oscar contender can up her chances and she might be able to ride off the hype like Rachel McAdams did last year with Spotlight. She's also been building an impressive resume of great performances recently which can add to her narrative.
However, her character apparently has a pretty small role in the book which I'm scared can possibly hinder her chances.

I was wondering cuz even on the trailer you can barely see her but her name is the first one the show when they show the people on the movie. Hopefully she gets it.

yes, well:
Makes Her look like a co-lead, not a cameo. Ha fame.
