JOSH GROBAN AND RASCAL FLATTS GO HEAD-TO-HEAD
November 17, 2010
It’s opera vs. country for next week’s chart, as Josh Groban will battle it out against Rascal Flatts for #1 on next week’s HITS Album sales chart.
Look for Groban's newest Warner Bros. album, Illuminations, to keep on giving for the holidays, after debuting this week with 350-400k, which would put him neck-and-neck for the top spot alongside the debut of Rascal Flatt's newest Big Machine album, Nothing Like This.
Rascal Flatts' album should benefit from scheduled late night tv performances, while Groban's album is a certain stocking-stuffer as we head into the teeth of the gifting season.
Susan Boyle continues to be a force this week. The Gift is expected to remain top 3 with a number between 220-250k.
As we head lower down the charts, another battle is heating up. Island/IDJ’s Rihanna is set to debut with 150-170k, which puts her in direct competition with Taylor Swift's fourth week of sales from Speak Now (Big Machine).
Atlantic’s Kid Rock is up next, with a total of 80-85k for Born Free, while both Capitol Nashville’s Keith Urban and Universal Motown’s Nelly are expected to debut within the 70-75k area.
The market was down 6% vs. last week, down 21% vs. same week last year and still down 13% year to date.
