Look for Boyle’s sophomore Columbia album, The Gift, to keep on giving for the holidays, after debuting this week with 240-260k, which would put her neck-and-neck for the top spot alongside the third week for Swift’s Speak Now. Which is good news for Lou Reed, whose “Perfect Day” is the first single from the Scottish singer’s release.

Not surprised about Susan. I knew this wouldn't do as well as IDAD.

The real story here is Kid Cudi. His last album did only 104k. He didn't have a smash single this time around, either. Well deserved, it's a good album (not better than his last, though).

This bodes very well for Kanye's numbers.

There was no way Susan Boyle was going to have the same first-wee numbers from last year. Her initial hype is gone and now her sales have "normalized". If I were Susan, I'd only be worried if she didn't have stable sales throughout the holiday season.

You said Susan's projected sales were a "flop", when I saw that term Katy Perry was the first thing that came to mind. Her songs were played everywhere all summer, and her album was projected to sell 400-700k, it didn't come anywhere close. Perhaps if her next album is more original then people will buy it. I'm sure she's keeping a close eye on Ke$ha for inspiration.

I think Susan's sales are disappointing just because her last album opened with 3 times as much. That's a sharp drop-off. The album might be able to go multiplatinum if it gets 'Andrea Bocelli' like sales in December.

1. Katy's still quite new artist. TD is her second album.

2. If u think that an quite new pop artist can sell an album with generic pop radio hits...????
