Pitbull Featuring Akon, "Shut It Down"
Released: November 2, 2009
Favorite Lyrics: (ooooh-ooooh)
Cant tell me nothing now baby i know how to fly
(oooooooh)
Cant nothing hold me down im gonna touch the sky
Again, another of many guilty pleasures on my list. I think Pitbull is a horrible rapper (at least now, in 2010) and Akon has one of the most intolerable voices... But hey, this is the world of that dance-electro-pop kind of music and I adapted to it. The beat is awesome and the message uplifts you.

Story Of The Year, "I'm Alive"
Released: February 16, 2010
Favorite Lyrics: I'm alive
But I'm barely breathing now
So place my heart under the ground
Lay me down
"I'm Alive" is a kind of dramatic, kind of makes you feel like your life is at stake as the instruments and vocals build up.

Bruno Mars, "Just The Way You Are"
Released: July 20, 2010
Favorite Lyrics:
Oh, you know, you know, you know I'd never ask you to change
If perfect's what you're searching for, then just stay the same
So don't even bother asking if you look okay
You know I'll say
Sounds like a "Doesn't Mean Anything" rip-off but I can't help but to love it. Great distinctive voice Bruno has, he's been appearing on other artists songs giving them the hits they need. This is a pop-romantic song. Every guy could use this song to his advantage with their boo or beau.

Lady Antebellum, "Need You Now"
Released: January 26, 2010
Favorite Lyrics:
Another shot of whiskey, can't stop looking at the door
Wishing you'd come sweeping in the way you did before.
/
Oh baby, I need you now
Everywhere I went I heard this song and the chorus got stuck in my head. I'm not a country fan but this might be my favorite country song of the year (by default). I also liked "I Run To You" for a little bit.

Linkin Park, "The Catalyst"
Released: August 2, 2010
Favorite Lyrics:
God bless us everyone
We're a broken people living under loaded gun
And it can't be outfoght
Can't be outdone
It can't out matched
It can't be outrun
No.
I love the pace of the song, the beat and the breakdown. Chester's vocals are great as usual, Shinoda lays a dope beat on the song as well. This is just so different from them and that puts no one in their league. I'd give the video a 5 star too.

The Fray, "Syndicate"
Released: January 12, 2010
Favorite Lyrics:
Someday when this is over
We may still have no answer
For now it's when I hold ya
We are closer, we are closer
We are closer, we are closer.
Some people say this is The Fray's weakest single but I think not. It actually moves me like the other singles they've had in the past. Not as powerful, but I still love it.

Pop & Rock Edition#
Here are some of the Pop, Rock and any other genre (excluding R&B and Hip-Hop) acts who had no placement in the Top 100 and won't even be appearing next year because I'm just simply done with them. Like the last set, they came... and went.
no particular order...
Stand-Outs#
Muse, Resistance
Rihanna, Te Amo
Justin Beiber Featuring Usher, Somebody To Love
| Selena Gomez, Naturally
JLS, Everybody in Love
Others#
Allison Iraheta, Friday I'll Be Over You
Train, If It's Love
Sky Ferreira, One
Down With Webster, Richgirl$
Iyaz, Bulletproof

Eminem Featuring Rihanna, "Love The Way You Lie"
Released: August 17, 2010
Favorite Lyrics:
Told you this is my fault
Look me in the eyeball
Next time I'm pissed I'll aim my fist at the drywall
Next time, there won't be no next time
Great-great song just a little too overrated and overexposed. Love the opening, I commend Rihanna, she's been improving vocally in the studio (mhm... shade). Don't you just love the tracks where Eminem goes off and gets hardcore? So powerful.

30 Seconds To Mars, "Closer To The Edge"
Released: June 9, 2010
Favorite Lyrics:
No, I'm not saying I'm sorry
One day maybe we'll meet again
//
I will never forget
I will never regret
I will live my life
I liked every single 30 Seconds to Mars had basically. It's hard to tell what the song is about, it could be about a relationship, their issues they had with their label or just about life itself. Whatever it is, it's deep. I like the video a lot too, very inspirational with the fan commentary.

Lady Gaga, "Alejandro"
Released: May 18, 2010
Favorite Lyrics:
She hides true love en su bolsillo
She's got a halo around her finger
Around you
Stans were disappointing as this being a single but I thought it was perfect for the summer. I also respect what the purpose or the direction of the video was about even though its not as summery as the song itself.

Jason Derulo, "In My Head"
Released: December 8, 2009
Favorite Lyrics:
Just leave with me now. Say the word and we'll go. We can go.
I'll be your teacher. I'll show you the ropes.
You'll see a side of love you've never known.
I think Derulo is talented, so cut him some slack. Didn't like it so much when it came out but in 10' this was a song I could jam to. It's feel-good.

Alpha Rep, "New Morning"
Released: April 25, 2010
Favorite Lyrics:
I dont give a damn if I'm running from the law
When my moneys not enough and they come and take it all
No I'm getting kinda rich on the side of any soul alive
Not to sound cheesy, but, this song is a great song to wake up in the morning too.
That's exactly how I discovered this song... while waking up for school, turning on VH1 and seeing the "New Morning" music video. It got so stuck in my head.
