Good question...I track the charts, especially the Mediabase 24/7 charts offered here at ATRL on the Music board, closely to see when future songs are going to be singles. I'm gonna start being a little more lenient on the whole "singles" thing in the future, however - "Funny Little Feeling" isn't going to be release officially as a single for a little while (I feel like I'm ahead of the curve on this one, though, you all just wait and see), and Gorillaz's "Dirty Harry" isn't even the first official single off their upcoming album (it's on there for two reasons: 1) I'm obviously a huge fan of the band, and 2) the song was release as a rare limited edition vinyl in the UK and that gave me an excuse to get Gorillaz back on the chart
).
Speaking of which, having now heard Gorillaz's first REAL single off "Demon Days," the upbeat "Feel Good Inc" featuring De La Soul, I'm going to pull "Dirty Harry" from the countdown. Its weeks will count, so when and if the song becomes an official single, those stats will count. However, I feel it's not fair to have them on there ahead of time based solely on an obscure vinyl single. (Although somehow the song IS getting airplay here in the US - Mediabase has them at #483 this week, with a whopping three spins this week!
)
I will refrain from putting "Feel Good Inc" into the countdown until it actually starts getting played here, though...
All of that confusion aside, this lazy weekend has had local alternative rock station WBCN 104.1 (also Boston's Howard Stern affiliate and the radio home of the New England Patriots) pumping through my ears, so expect rock to take precedence over pop this week. But not totally...
So, then, let's get it started!

NOTE: I feel VERY lucky. As I do from time to time, I decided to copy and paste this whole post to a Word file before posting it. When I clicked send, my computer inexplicably rebooted. Luckiest backup file ever...
