There have been several concentrated pushs for new artists in recent years and Halsey is basically one of them.
Lady Gaga was one the first, then Lana Del Rey. Iggy Azalea was also another one and now we have Halsey.
It is completly unimportant if we hate her or not, the label has already decided that she will blow up like the others did.
What is different to Halsey compared to Gaga and Lana (I will leave Iggy out of this for now) is that she has no artistic merit. Her songs are terribly written, her sound is basically production only and her faux in-depth interviews are cringey. There is also hardly room for development in her case.
Gaga and Lana have survived the hype and do what they please now. Regardless how much I personally loathe Gaga, she can create her own ideas and release music she wants. Same for Lana. Iggy will most likely play the game of the label til she brings them no more money.

I don't know much about her but I heard New Americana and I seriously started cringing at the lyrics. It's like Ark Music Factory's take on Lana/Lorde.

Maybe some people really just don't like the music. Others are obviously just hating because they think it's "cool" seeing as though they're saying the same things others are saying and haven't formed an opinion themselves. "Oh, she tries too hard", "oh, she seems like a such and such ripoff".
Personally, I don't mind her. I've previewed her songs and they're really not my cup of tea, and honestly yes, I'm getting tired of seeing her everywhere on Tumblr but if people really enjoy her music then that's on them. I don't see anything bad with her for me to dislike her personally though.

She's a label creation, but who cares, every pop girl is. & she rips off people, a lot, but again - all popgirls rip off other people so it's downright hypocritical to criticize her for it while stanning for Taylor, Katy, Gaga, my favs, & the list goes on and on.
Remember the shitstorm on Lorde? It passed and this one will too.

Wait this is very interesting. I knew it seemed fishy that an indie girl that--no offense--didn't really stand out among other indie girls was making people so hyped. The label is spending serious cash on her behind the scenes She seems to be copying Lorde's pre-fame 'I am above Hollywood' personality with a SJW touch to appeal even more to the Tumblr crowd.
New Americana does sound like your average Lana track with slightly lower quality lyrics. It even reminds me of Wildest Dreams which atrl loves despite its corny lyrics so the hate for that one song is unwarranted

I don't dislike her, but I hate how tumblr white girls are always like "look at this girl she's biracial and bisexual WOW sO AMAZinG" because i'm also biracial and bisexual and no one wants to stan me for that 
She also used to be a popular Larry blog apparently, which is terrible and embarrassing in itself
