ARTPOP will sell at least twice as much as R8 in the first week and Applause will sell twice as much as Rihanna's lead single ... GaGa would obviously demolish Rihanna's first week sales but Rihanna's sales are always pretty admirable in the end. She wouldn't sell as much as ARTPOP will, but she'll stay selling a lot. People like to shade her for not being quite the blockbuster seller of like 6/7 million every time, but she is very consistent. And 3 million WW/1 million US is nothing to scoff at.

Singles-wise, they could both co-exist. There's not a stereotypical pop girl rivalry between them that I notice like Britney vs GaGa, Rihanna vs Katy, GaGa vs Madonna, etc.

In terms of quality (if you are adressing that in the OP at all), the public always likes Rih's music & no matter how polarizing GaGa's music will be, it will be eaten up & will most likely be well received by critics.
