Beyonce's singles have underperformed and she is still a huge global and cultural icon. Charting isn't everything. Do you think at the end of the day average people remember chart positions?
So is Gaga over? By the sheer amount of press this inconsequential, media-created spat has gotten, the answer is, quite simply, "no." As Madonna, 30 years at the top and counting, knows well, when you reach a certain level of success people will always be there to bring you down. The fact that they are still talking about you though, means you are not going anywhere anytime soon. Gaga, you'll be getting applause for a very long time to come.
She is definitely not as big as she was in TFM/early BTW but that doesn't mean she's done for.
No she just isn't at her peak anymore. There are plenty of other people that have had more underperforming singles than her and they're still selling out shows (ie: beyonce) or still talked about more than ever (christina aguilera). People want her to be over, but i think she's here to stay for a while
If only 218,000 people bought her single when she's been promoting the campaign for over one year, and all it took Katy is a truck passing around in a couple of streets with PRISM - KATY PERRY on it & managed to shift more than double, it's fair to assume so.
