I just want to pin point one thing, most if not all of 'gay vernacular' originates from 30s ball culture. An underground gay club pageant circuit that allowed people to embrace their sexuality and gender identity in a safe setting during a time where it was outlawed. So a lot of the time that people speaking on behalf of 'black woman's' language saying that the gays are appropriating it ..it was actually appropriated by black women who included it into their own vernacular because of the intersect of gay culture and 'beauty parlour culture'.
This is not even acknowledging the shift to this day where black women on every reality tv show now come equipped with a gay whose language they adopt. But I don't see anyone on that side getting clocked everytime a woman on screen comes dripping in drag. Which is .. interesting.
But then again people love shaping their identity around playing the victim.
