California and New York are the most overrated, overpopulated states. Some parts are nice, but both of them are still grossly overrated. Half of California looks like a 3rd world country, and the only great thing about New York is its shopping and business opportunity. You could drop dead in the street and people would walk right past you to the nearest Starbucks.
Maryland and New Jersey are the two most affluent states in America, yet people seem to overlook how amazing they are.
Now that bit may be true depending on which part of NY you live in, but you're wrong about the rest. There's so much more to NY than just shopping and business. It's a mecca of culture.
Wyoming because it's the least populated state and nobody interesting ever comes from there. Pretty much any of the midwestern states as well. Oregon (WTF even goes on there) Lots of boring states.
