Once again, how are you certain no celebrities are reading through one of the biggest Pop music forums on the internet? And my comment is not limited to ATRL, but the internet as a whole. My point is, it's dumb to crucify someone for being ballsy enough to say it in person but go ahead and @ worse insults and act like that doesn't offend them either.
Hold this L.

Well, ok, trashtalking someone is bad, in itself. We can agree on that.
But there's levels to it. Trashtalking someone on a forum no celebs read (*like, come on, no relevant celebs read us ) <<<<<<<<< trashtalking them on the comments of their social media, which they might be reading <<<<<<<<<<<<<< trashtalking them to their face, being in their personal space and consciously ruining their day with an awkward, disrespectful encounter. The latter is on a completely different level.
And also, take into consideration how not even ATRL drags Iggy that much anymore, other than very very few exceptions. The bandwagon is over cause everyone can see this girl is down. The fact that it was Iggy, in particular, makes it even worse

It's the same message, a different medium. Dead @ people are trying to rank whether one is worse than the other when they're both offensive. Ya'll want to sit around and reduce celebrities to caricatures when you're anonymous, but they're suddenly humans with feelings only when it's said about them in person lolz.
Bottom line is, if you have no issue dragging celebrities on the Internet, you shouldn't have a problem with people saying it to them in person.

Exactly, whilst I find both sides abominable, I have more respect for the guy in the video than most of the members on this site.

There is no "L" to "hold", you're downplaying this incident because you probably dislike Iggy and comparing this to Twitter trolls is just stupid. Everyone knows it takes more nerve to insult someone in real life than it does on the internet i.e. saying it to her in person carries much more gravity.
|
But that's the thing, because it's anonymous people say things that are far worse than "You ruined Hip-Hop" when they're on the Internet that nobody would have the guts to say in person. Iggy's frequently deleted her social media because of cyberbullying, so clearly its possible to emotionally fed up with comments over the internet. So for you to act like hitting below the belt is suddenly OK because it's online but a lame, generic insult like "You ruined Hip-Hop" is worse in person is dumb.
If you want to have stan wars and drag celebrities, fine, but just accept that ya'll aren't any better than this guy, so get off the high horse.

This is ****ing disgusting. I can't watch this a second time. Guy thought he was being funny but he's a ****ing asshole, a pathetic bully. The way Iggy thought he was a fan and her look afterwards. If you think this is funny you're really no better than the guy tbh.

Why are you saying "y'all"? I don't use ATRL to "have stan wars and drag celebrities", unless you're generalizing all ATRL members, in which case you are one also.
I'm aware that cyberbullying affects people too, but personal, real life attacks will always be more substantial and scarring because they go past the barrier of anonymity on the internet and show real intent and hatred. Additionally, in your last post you said "it's the same message, a different medium" but in this post you say it's the cyberattacks that have far worse messages that got to Iggy, so which is it?
Obviously, saying "I hope your family gets cancer and you watch them all die" online is comparable or maybe worse than saying "thank you for ruining hip hop" to her face, but saying the same thing will always have more impact if said in person and there's no point in arguing that. You can see it in her face. He got her hopes up, real emotions, thinking she was speaking to a fan. That kind of psychological trauma, small as it may be, completely trumps logging onto Twitter and seeing the same comment by a random person.
It isn't like 99% of people who insult a celebrity online think they'll ever even see it. Yeah, that doesn't make celebrity cyberbullying excusable or any better, but saying it directly to their face is a different level.

Lmao wait I have an idea! How about instead of throwing statements out there that you want people to blindly agree with, show me some examples of me reacting that way to anything that isn't like a murder or a suicide and also show me examples of me "calling everyone racist over nothing".

Bye. Comparing ATRL to the guy in the video is ludicrous.
Most people here don't even genuinely hate the celebs they drag.
You don't think its a coincidence that most Bey haters are Rihanna fans, and vice versa. Same with Monsters & Kats, Xtina fans and Britney.
No one here is expecting a celebrity to be reading their shade or insults about them, they do it to piss off a certain fan base or for a hit thread (sad but true).
This guy (who probably smoked meth or crack) went to Iggy with the intention of hurting her feelings and getting her reaction for a viral video/praise. Now this video is circulating the web, gaining attention and Iggy probably is extremely upset by this. This affects her FAR more than if she read a random ATRL member saying "IGGY IS DONE, TEAM FLOPPED ON THE CHARTS LOL"
Theres a complete difference.
As for attackers on social media, its still not the same. If someone commented on my IG pic "You're so ugly" its completely different to someone walking up to me and saying it.
Delivery is just as important as the content.
People call their friends bitch all the time in a joking manner, but technically its an offensive word. But by your logic delivery isn't important, content is, so basically we're actually insulting our friends and trying to hurt them.
Content + Delivery. Both play important parts.
Again cyber bullying is not okay but stop saying its the same as personal attacks in real life.
